Handmade in Italy and weighing 6.7 kg, but competitively priced and aimed at amateur cyclists, the new Basso Sempre Veloce seems to combine the best of the racing and sportive worlds.

The Basso Sempre Veloce is a high-end, modern, and high-performance road bike, entirely made in Italy, but priced lower than high-end Asian models from major brands. The Sempre Veloce in its top-of-the-range Campagnolo Super Record Wireless S or SRAM Red AXS version is sold for €11,999.

The choice is usually between an aerodynamic monocoque frame of Asian manufacture or a handmade tube-to-tube frame. Basso adds that one must also choose between a race bike designed for professional athletes or a bike that offers comfort and versatility but sacrifices some performance elements. Basso claims that the Sempre Veloce combines race-level performance with the adaptability and comfort that amateur cyclists expect.

The new Sempre Veloce is Basso’s new flagship model and has been updated for the needs of the modern cyclist. It features tire clearance for 35 mm tires and a new geometry. There are seven frame sizes, which overlap so that every cyclist can find a custom fit, and 16 cockpit options.

Basso prioritizes rider fit over aerodynamic improvements, but has still lowered the frontal area by 16% compared to the Diamante SV. The stiffness of the bottom bracket shell and head tube has also been significantly improved according to the brand.

The frame is made from high-end Torayca T1100 and T1000 carbon fibers and is claimed at 780 g in size 53. In its top-of-the-range version, it is claimed at 6.7 kg with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 and DT Swiss ARC 1100 wheels.

The Sempre Veloce is available for €11,999 with Campagnolo Super Record S Wireless or SRAM Red AXS, for €11,799 with Dura-Ace, and for €7,949 with Ultegra. It is also available as a frameset for €4,999. Four colorways are available.
