World champion Tadej Pogačar and his teammates on UAE Team Emirates will be riding a new bike that caused quite a stir during the offseason. The Y1Rs takes advantage of UCI regulations regarding frame tube shapes and dimensions to feature a very distinctive design at the rear of the bike, with a seatpost that no longer extends from the tube that wraps around the rear wheel. Also notable is a down tube that encompasses the bottle cage to minimize aerodynamic drag, and, most notably, a very impressive Y-shaped cockpit. Colnago claims a 20-watt gain at high speeds compared to the bike previously used by the team. A Shimano Dura-Ace groupset, Enve wheels, Continental tires, and Fizik saddles round out the spec of this bike, which we’re likely to see at the front of pro races all season long.
