Chris Froome and Alberto Contador are two of the greatest cycling legends of recent years. Their legendary mountain battles gave rise to a healthy rivalry that left us with unforgettable moments.
This Monday, the duel that marked an era of modern cycling will be revived through virtual cycling. The two legends will compete in a special race in the BKOOL simulator. Specifically, the event will take place at 6:30 PM on Monday, November 25. It will have the particularity that, this time, the stars will not be accompanied by their respective professional teams, but hundreds of amateur cyclists will be part of the peloton. Everyone can participate in this historic Group Ride from home, riding a smart bike or smart trainer on the BKOOL virtual cycling platform.
Participation is completely free and accessible to everyone during the 30-day trial period on www.bkool.com. Finally, the event can be followed live via Instagram LIVE on the profiles of both cyclists and on BKOOL’s social media.
The Group Ride will cover a stage of the Giro d’Italia Virtual 2024, leading to another significant cycling event: never before have Chris Froome and Alberto Contador joined forces in the Corsa Rosa.
Ángel Luis Fernández, Head of Marketing at BKOOL, said: “This is the most important event in the history of BKOOL and all of virtual cycling. Bringing together two cycling legends of this magnitude, who were the stars of a historic rivalry, having them compete, and offering any fan the opportunity to ride alongside them, is something unique.”
For Alberto Contador, it is also a very special moment: “The battles against Chris were always very tough. What surprised me most were his final attacks, after hard work from Sky. I’m delighted that we’re meeting again, this time on BKOOL.”
Chris Froome commented: “It’s great to start offseason training with some friendly competition on BKOOL, and even better with my old rival Alberto Contador! We recently met in Miami and he still looks in great shape, so I have no doubt he won’t make it easy for me.”
Just days after Froome announced that this would be his last active season, he is therefore dancing with the man who, in his own words, was his toughest rival. Two of the greatest cyclists of all time face off on BKOOL, reliving a rivalry that marked its era.
