Mountain biking is at the origin of the Roc d’Azur CIC, and it will always remain its heart. With some of the greatest XC mountain bike champions but also more than 4,000 amateurs at the start, the Roc d’Azur CIC on Sunday obviously remains the highlight of the week. It is also the fifth and final stage of the Delta Plus Roc Trophy, a ranking that allows the most competitive to compete on the cumulative results of one event per day, for a total of 5 events.
The Ford Roc Marathon and its 102 km (distance record), the spectacular CIC Roc Ruelles Fréjus, the rides in the Maures massif, from 8 to 48 km (Alltricks Rando Noire), and since 2022 in the Estérel massif (from 30 to 48 km), the family events (Rando Famille, Kid Roc or Kid Roc Draisienne) remain the benchmarks of the Roc d’Azur CIC.
But throughout its history, the event has adapted to societal changes. Introduced in 2017, electric mountain biking quickly found its place with numerous rides, including the Shimano Rando Noire Électrique (48 km). For the first time this year, the Rando d’Azur Électrique (last wave of the Roc d’Azur CIC) will allow electric mountain bikes to start and ride on the same course as the Roc d’Azur CIC. Gravel has also found its place in the event’s program with the Canyon Rando Gravel Estérel 70 K, the Canyon Gravel Roc (70 km). This year, the Canyon Rando Gravel 40 ans joins the celebration, starting from Ramatuelle, near the location where, in 1984, 7 riders set off for the first edition of the event.
To satisfy road cycling enthusiasts, this year, the Roc d’Azur CIC hosts the Ekoï Cyclo Roc: a 131 km and 1,900 D+ sportive ride, in the heart of the Var hinterland.
ROC D’AZUR CIC: BRINGING ALL PRACTICES TOGETHER
The program offers an unprecedented diversity of activities and a wide choice of events so that everyone can live their Roc d’Azur CIC experience according to their practices, level, and desires. Nature triathlon enthusiasts will find their happiness with the Tri Roc. While the trail and walking events, popular since their inclusion in the program, will once again take runners and walkers around the splendid Rocher de Roquebrune-sur-Argens.
