Garmin announces the launch of the fēnix^® 8 series: the new generation of multisport GPS smartwatches equipped with an ultra-bright AMOLED display, or a MIP display with solar charging glass for extended battery life. The 51mm AMOLED model offers up to 29 days of battery life in smartwatch mode, while the 51mm solar charging glass model offers up to 48 days of battery life, with the display always on. Designed for anyone who wants to push their limits, the fēnix 8 series integrates new advanced strength training features, diving functions, a speaker, and an internal microphone.

“For years, the fēnix series has been renowned for its numerous features, premium materials, and innovative design. Today, we are thrilled to introduce the most powerful model ever designed. This new range not only integrates new design details or improvements concerning sport-specific targeted training. It also allows you to choose between a superb AMOLED display or solar charging glass for better battery life. For premium smartwatch enthusiasts, look no further than the fēnix 8.” — Dan Bartel, Garmin Vice President of Global Consumer Sales

Key Features:

• AMOLED or Solar MIP: This new range integrates two different types of displays, an ultra-bright AMOLED display or a MIP display with solar charging glass that allows it to stay on permanently. The 51mm model provides 50% more solar energy than the previous model¹.
• Waterproof and Shockproof Casing: All models feature waterproof inductive buttons, new sensor protection, and meet US military standards for thermal, shock, and water resistance. Additionally, premium materials such as titanium for the bezel and case back, and highly scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass, are offered with certain models.
• Integrated Speaker and Microphone: It is possible to make and receive phone calls from the watch when paired with a compatible smartphone. Certain commands can be activated directly from the watch, without requiring a phone connection, such as voice note taking and feature activation.
• Integrated LED Flashlight: The flashlight brightness is controlled directly from the watch screen. Variable intensities, a red light, and a strobe mode can also be activated to adapt the lighting mode according to your needs.
• Advanced Strength Training: The new fēnix 8 series offers targeted 4 to 6-week strength training programs, as well as specific strength training for athletes of all types, including trail runners, surfers, and skiers.
• Diving Functions: The watch case is equipped with waterproof inductive buttons and allows dives up to 40 meters deep, with tanks or freediving.
• Garmin Messenger App: A two-way messaging function is accessible directly from the watch and allows communication with other people.
• Advanced Maps and Navigation: You can view TopoActive³ maps and preloaded maps of thousands of golf courses and ski resorts worldwide. A new map interface allows you to easily customize map layers for better navigation comfort. A new round-trip route planning function allows you to define a target distance that continuously adjusts to meet set deadlines.

Exceptional Performance

Whatever the activity, the new fēnix 8 watch accompanies all athletes seeking performance daily. Each morning, a training readiness score helps determine if the day is more conducive to effort or relaxation. The watch also assesses overall performance level by taking into account advanced training metrics, endurance score, climb score, VO2 Max, and training status and load.

During the session, the PacePro^™ function displays personalized pace recommendations based on elevation changes throughout the course, and the ClimbPro function displays real-time information on current and upcoming ascents.

For subsequent outings, performance from previous sessions is taken into account to suggest training adapted to your current fitness level. These “Garmin Coach” training programs and the “race widget” are free and available from the Garmin Connect application.

For All Passions

New activities like freediving and scuba diving complement the dozens of preloaded activity profiles, such as running, rafting, golf, as well as team sports like football.

For training at the gym or at home, animated cardio, strength, yoga, and Pilates exercises can be displayed on the watch screen. Outdoor sports enthusiasts can record all their outings and performances in snowboarding, cross-country skiing, surfing, mountain biking, etc.

Explore (or not) the Beaten Path

Ready for any adventure, the fēnix 8 series features premium mapping functions. TopoActive maps are preloaded on fēnix 8 Sapphire models and available worldwide. An Outdoor Maps+ subscription provides premium map content, such as satellite imagery and enhanced topographic maps, directly on the watch. Everyone can then create their own route, or choose from a selection of routes available in Garmin Connect, then sync their watch and get detailed navigation instructions.

In parallel, SatIQ technology and multi-band GPS offer superior positioning accuracy in challenging environments, while optimizing battery life.

During outings, users can navigate trails with the help of the NextFork guide or the integrated altimeter, barometer, and 3-axis electronic compass.

Track Health Statistics

The fēnix 8 series integrates a Garmin Elevate Gen5 heart rate monitor and a pulse oximeter that allow continuous monitoring of health and sleep quality. Upon waking, the watch displays a morning report that provides a personalized overview of the previous night’s sleep, training insights for the day, and HRV (heart rate variability) status. The Body Battery function allows you to track your energy level throughout the day.

Stay Connected

With the Garmin Share function, the fēnix 8 series allows you to share recorded locations, routes, and workouts with other people using a compatible Garmin device. The watch also allows you to display Smart Notifications, download your playlists from Spotify, Deezer, or Amazon Music platforms (Premium subscription required), and easily pay for purchases with the contactless payment solution Garmin Pay.

And for safe training, this new series integrates incident detection, assistance, and LiveTrack real-time tracking functions.
