Only 4 days left until the cauldron that lit up our eyes this summer is rekindled… But one question remains: can we still experience something as magical as what we’ve just lived through? August 28th will mark the start of the Paris Paralympic Games, an event that not only extends the Olympic spirit of Paris 2024, but transcends it. These Games are a celebration of human strength at its most inspiring, a reminder that sport knows no limits, and that will and courage can push back all boundaries.

We have just experienced a unique summer, and all sports enthusiasts will agree that Paris 2024 will remain etched in our memories. So, how can we do even better? Why follow the Paralympic Games? Can we love them as much as what we have just experienced with able-bodied athletes? Can the emotions reach the same peak?
To appreciate the Paralympic Games is to delve into the very heart of what makes sport great: self-transcendence, resilience in the face of adversity, and the unwavering determination of those who refuse to be defined by obstacles. Each Paralympic athlete is the hero of a story of perseverance, where every movement, every performance, is the result of a fierce struggle against physical limitations and prejudices. These Games are not simply a competition; they are a true life lesson, a tribute to the human capacity to transform challenges into triumphs.
This year, our eyes will turn with particular emotion to two exceptional athletes: Kevin Le Cunff and Michael Herter. A few years ago, we had the privilege of sharing a few rides with them, listening to their stories filled with challenges and resilience, and feeling the flame that drives them, a passion that transcends limits. Kevin, a former professional cyclist who has become a symbol of Paralympic success, and Michael, whose determination illuminates every track he covers, are much more than medal contenders. They are living proof that the human spirit, when nurtured by will and courage, knows no bounds.

Their story is that of two men who refused to let their circumstances dictate their destinies. Pedaling alongside them, we witnessed a determination that far exceeds mere sporting performance. We saw men who, in the face of adversity, choose every day to push their own limits, to prove to the world that true courage is found in the heart, not in the body.

As spectators, we have a role to play: to welcome these Paralympic Games with the same fervor, the same admiration as for the Olympic Games. These athletes do not ask for our compassion, but our respect. By following their performances, by encouraging them, we pay tribute not only to their hard work, but also to the purity of human effort, to that beauty that resides in the struggle for every victory, for every advance, for every dream realized.
These Games are a unique opportunity to discover sport in its purest and most powerful form. Don’t miss the highlights of this human adventure: on Sunday, September 1st, follow Michael Herter in the triathlon, and on Wednesday, September 4th and Friday, September 6th, witness Kevin Le Cunff’s performances in the time trial and road race (the athlete will also participate in the individual pursuit at the Saint-Quentin Velodrome on August 31st, and in the team sprint on September 1st). We invite you to let yourself be carried away by these life stories, to feel the emotion of each victory, and to celebrate with us these champions who, through their courage and tenacity, remind us that humanity is capable of the best. May these Games be for all of us a source of inspiration and a vibrant tribute to the greatness of the human spirit.
