Strava Launches Family Plan, its Shared Subscription

Strava, the leading online sports community with over 125 million athletes, is launching the Family Plan, a shared annual subscription, in the vein of its Student Plan. Announced at Camp Strava, the brand’s major annual event, the Family Plan allows users to share a subscription with friends, family members, or training partners, provided that all members live in the same country and are not already subscribers.

Strava’s research reveals that over half of Strava athletes feel motivated by their friends and family members who exercise, while 77% feel more connected by seeing their loved ones’ activities on Strava. The new Family Plan builds on this motivation to offer unlimited access to premium features, helping athletes train, compete, and explore together, both online and on roads and trails.

“The magic of Strava lies in the motivation our global community generates,” said Zipporah Allen, Chief Business Officer at Strava. “We believe that people motivate each other, and the new Family Plan makes that mutual engagement even easier. It’s not just about setting common goals, but also about sharing passion and celebrating collective progress.”

Through the subscription, each Family Plan member gets full access to a suite of premium features:

  • Goals, to set weekly goals, progress, have fun, and encourage each other.
  • Training Analysis, to get a clear analysis of activity data, train better, and improve.
  • Group Challenges, to create unlimited Group Challenges and aim for common goals.
  • Routes, to create, discover, and share routes to more easily plan group rides and adventures.

Available in 32 countries, the Family Plan allows one athlete to share a subscription with up to three other people, provided they are not already Strava subscribers and live in the same country. This annual plan offers up to 50% savings on average compared to an individual annual subscription when shared among four people. The cost varies by country.
