Since 2002, Canyon has built an enviable reputation as one of the major brands in the cycling world. Canyon is now transferring this expertise to footwear with the launch of its Tempr CFR shoe range designed for road racing, XC mountain biking, or gravel racing.

Canyon’s Factory Racing (CFR) range is the pinnacle of the company’s research and development expertise, distilled into world-renowned products. Utilizing the best materials, quality production, as well as the knowledge, expertise, and dedication of industry experts and professional riders, the Tempr CFR range is a performance-oriented shoe from Canyon.
The all-new Tempr CFR shoes are designed to strike the right balance between speed and comfort, giving the forefoot room to flex, locking the heel, and embracing the foot to provide a platform for smooth pedal strokes.

Development Expertise
Canyon not only enlisted the expertise of industry veterans Carl Bird and Eric Horton of FORM8ION to bring their knowledge and input to the cutting-edge designs, but they also worked with partners such as BOA, Solestar, and Vibram to create a top-tier shoe that allows its athletes to win world-class races.
“Our expertise in bike development is second to none, so it was natural that we would also bring that world-class talent to shoe development, completing the connection between rider and bike,” said Stan Mavis, Canyon’s Global Gear Director.

Innovation and Performance
Canyon focused on addressing three challenges during development: how to optimize the last shape for more power and comfort, how to eliminate wasted motion, and how to measurably gain watts.
The answer lies in three main development technologies:
In collaboration with Solestar, Canyon co-developed its PUREFIT360 insole to conform to the foot’s shape and naturally move the foot, bringing it back to a neutral position for maximum power transfer without any impact on comfort. Tempr CFR shoes also feature Canyon’s full-length internal CFR carbon fiber plate. These two technologies combine to provide maximum power transfer in a comfortable shoe for long distances.

In collaboration with Boa, Canyon developed the unique PerformFit Wrap system to encircle your heel and arch, control the instep, and lock the heel in place, which eliminates unnecessary foot movement within the shoe and provides freedom from pressure points on the arch.
These two technologies give rise to what Canyon calls Percent+, where its technology partners and shoe design offer efficient power transfer, race-oriented performance, and measurable watt gains compared to conventional shoe closure systems.

“Our first shoes out of the block push cutting-edge performance and have already proven themselves at the highest levels of racing. We are known for challenging the status quo through our design expertise and the input of our athletes. With these shoes, we have taken another step forward in innovation,” said Mavis.
The shoes are in the spotlight thanks to Canyon athletes such as Petr Vakoč, Zoe Bäckstedt (pictured below), Luca Schwarzbauer, and Dante Young, who have achieved victories in elite-level Gravel, Cyclocross, XCO, XCC, and road races this season.

Feature-Rich Shoes
In addition to the latest Boa and Solestar fit performance, Canyon has also incorporated a unique sock-like stretch tongue material to comfortably hold the foot. Both road and off-road shoes also feature integrated pressure relief zones in typical hot spot areas to provide a supportive yet supple balance.
Furthermore, two anodized aluminum Boa Li2 dials offer efficient and precise multi-directional adjustment, which is both durable and replaceable.
On the off-road shoes, a Vibram Megagrip outsole provides best-in-class traction.

Canyon’s Tempr CFR Road shoes are available in white and black variants, priced at €329.95 and weighing 250g (size 42). Tempr CFR Off-road shoes are available in black with a gum tread, or grey or white with a black tread, also priced at €329.95 and weighing 290g (size 42).

All shoes feature discreet branding, with Canyon’s small CFR on the heel and a Canyon pattern on the back of the heel. Road and off-road shoes are available in European sizes between 36 and 48 with half sizes from 40.5 to 46.5 exclusively on Canyon.com or via the Canyon app. Additionally, Canyon shoes can also be seen at Canyon Factory Service locations in Europe and North America.
