Pinarello launches the latest version of its iconic frame, the Dogma F

For Pinarello, it has always been a challenge to combine performance, cutting-edge technology, and aesthetics. But it’s something the brand has mastered repeatedly since the launch of the very first Dogma 22 years ago.

Getting Ready to Be Looked At

Pinarello has always sought to stand out from the competition and has created unique bikes, both in terms of aesthetics, but more importantly, how they perform. The function of the “excessive” tube shapes is a constant source of discussion among designers, and they believe the Dogma F achieves the best synthesis.

New M40X Carbon Fiber

The Dogma F’s all-new M40X carbon fiber is the result of countless hours of testing on X-Light models and on Ineos Grenadiers’ bikes. This material has allowed lateral stiffness to be taken to the next level.

Designed to Excel in Any Situation

Pinarello has never followed the trends of other manufacturers by trying to convince cyclists that they need specialized bikes, one for the mountains and another for flat terrain. Instead, with the Dogma, Pinarello has produced a single frame capable of delivering performance on any terrain, for amateur cyclists and world-class professionals alike. While many competing brands are now returning to this type of versatile model, Pinarello has never deviated from its course.

Weight vs. Aerodynamics: Finding the Perfect Balance

Over the course of a Grand Tour, a 0.2% improvement in aerodynamic drag coefficient is equivalent to a 175g weight saving on the bike.

To validate this theory, the Ineos Grenadiers team measured Geraint Thomas’s performance data from the 2022 Tour de France. They studied, on the one hand, the average energy he expended and, on the other hand, the potential savings he could achieve in different situations, i.e., on the flats, climbs, and descents. They found that minor improvements in aerodynamic drag coefficient and rolling resistance were actually more valuable than saving weight.

In Grand Tours for pros, just as with everyday rides for us amateurs, it’s not always a time trial. We constantly ride on varied terrain. Objectively examined, aerodynamic gains are worth more than weight savings, and that’s why, with the new Dogma F, Pinarello didn’t focus solely on weight. Yes, the new model is 108g lighter than the previous model, but the main concern was to reduce the bike’s aerodynamic drag coefficient by 0.2%.

Marginal Gains

Every shape, every detail, every new line of the Dogma F has been designed to reduce this 0.2% figure. This was achieved by making a series of minor but significant improvements, all developed using the latest fluid dynamics simulations and countless hours in the wind tunnel.

Improved Down Tube Aerodynamics

The down tube has been completely redesigned to reduce its thickness, improving the frame’s frontal aerodynamic performance and reducing overall drag.

New Keel-Shaped Bottom Bracket Shell

The down tube has also been rotated by 3.5° to create a keel shape that improves the bottom bracket shell’s aerodynamic performance by 1.2%.

Head Tube, Thinner and Faster

The unique head tube shape – which was first introduced on the Dogma F8 in 2014 and copied by a few competitors – has evolved again. The volume has been reduced and the width by 8mm to improve frontal penetration.

Headset, Lighter with Improved Cable Routing

To reduce the width of the head tube, a headset was designed with an elliptical shape while using bearings of different diameters, wider at the bottom and narrower at the top. Internal cable routing has been moved from the sides to the front of the head tube.

More Aerodynamic Thru-Axles

The bolt on the right side of the fork has been integrated into the carbon, eliminating the external hole of the previous version. The same has been done on the frame with the integration of the rear derailleur hanger. This solution improves both the frame’s aerodynamic performance and its aesthetics.

New Onda Fork: Thinner, Faster, More Performing

The new thinner fork design – tested by professional cyclists – also improves aerodynamics and features a 47mm offset to improve handling and speed on descents.

Lighter and Cleaner Seatpost Clamp

The seatpost clamp has been reduced and is now fully integrated inside the seat tube. This new solution reduces weight, improves design, and increases the fluidity of the system by limiting the amount of dust and sweat that can penetrate inside.

New Talon Cockpit: Lighter, Faster, and More Aero

The new integrated Talon Fast cockpit is lighter and more aerodynamic than ever. It features a more natural lever positioning that allows cyclists to find aerodynamic positions more safely.

A Symmetrical Thought – No Compromise on This Approach

All Dogma frames are asymmetrical in order to balance the higher forces exerted on the chain side during pedaling. An asymmetrical frame creates a more balanced response when pedaling.
