For ultimate optimization, the comparative study was carried out in the prestigious Silverstone wind tunnel. The oversized aerodynamic derailleur cage was compared to a standard derailleur cage, evaluating the average aerodynamic drag in three distinct derailleur positions.
The results confirmed that the oversized aerodynamic cage offers more efficiency, but also superior stability in all three derailleur positions compared to a conventional setup.
Result: 25% drag reduction compared to the CyclingCeramic oversized cage and 60% reduction compared to a standard Shimano cage. This translates into energy savings that could save 7 seconds over 40 kilometers at 40 km/h.
