Enve unveils a new all-rounder bike: the Fray

Enve introduces the Fray, a versatile and high-performance road bike designed to broaden the terrain and capabilities of those looking to venture off the beaten path. Generous tire clearance, World Tour-inspired construction, and Enve aerodynamics set the Fray apart as a benchmark in performance.

“At its core, the Fray is a performance road bike, with incredible versatility that allows it to venture onto mixed surfaces. Enve products are designed with a specific purpose, and the Fray embodies this philosophy. When we introduced the Fray to our sales channels, the question “who is the Fray for?” often came up. I answer by saying that at Enve, the Fray is the bike we take home on weekends and when we travel to ride.
Outside of specific Gravel events or road races, the Fray is always the “right” bike.”
Jake Pantone, Vice President of Product and Brand.

Falling into the all-road bike category, the Fray combines elements of the Melee’s performance characteristics, such as aerodynamics, light weight, and efficient power transfer, with certain design details from the MOG to create one of the most high-performance bikes on the road. Thanks to geometry optimization for 31 to 35 mm tires, maximum clearance up to 40 mm, progressive endurance geometry, and the Enve Cargo Bay for down tube storage within the frame, the Fray brings road race performance to those seeking a greater variety of surfaces and terrains.

The Fray is made from a blend of unidirectional carbon fibers of medium, high, and super-high modulus, using Enve’s Optimized Material Design (M.O.D.) process. “Optimized Material Design is about designing and manufacturing products that leverage the strengths of carbon fiber. The materials, weights, and fiber angles used in the laminate are selected and manipulated to achieve zone-specific performance in the part. Carbon is the key ingredient, and we use the best we can find, but ultimately, it’s the process it undergoes that makes it an ENVE product,” said Pantone.

Fit and geometry are another area where Enve pays close attention. To facilitate the fitting process and ensure the customer has all fitting possibilities, Enve created the Best-Fit Calculator. “Our goal with each of our bikes is to help the customer achieve that fluid feeling from the very first pedal stroke. Our calculator aims to simplify the fitting process for both the fitter and the customer. The calculator simply works by matching the rider’s stack, reach, and saddle position numbers to the frame geometry, stem length, stem rise, spacer stack, and saddle setback. The result provides the rider with several frame and component configuration options that the rider, with their fitter, can analyze to determine the best-suited option,” said Pantone.

Enve will offer the Fray in three colorways: Ash, Venom, and Salt. These bikes are available worldwide at Enve Ride Centers and partner retailers as a “chassis,” which includes the frame, fork, headset, handlebar, stem, and seatpost. The handlebar, stem, and seatpost are selected à la carte to ensure customers get the exact fit they need from the start. This allows the retailer to work closely with the customer and ensure that the selection of parts and wheels is best suited to their needs.

The Fray is immediately available in all sizes and colors worldwide. The Enve Fray chassis retails for €5995 and includes the frame, fork, headset, stem, handlebar, and
seatpost.
