Strava launches “Best Efforts” for cycling

Strava is launching the Best Efforts feature on mobile today for cycling activities. Last summer, Strava introduced a similar feature for running to allow athletes to track their best efforts over distances ranging from 400m to 50km. This widely acclaimed feature is now being rolled out for cycling activities. It’s a powerful tool to better track progress and achieve new records.

Like Best Efforts for running, the cycling version of this feature can be viewed by clicking on “You” at the bottom of the Strava mobile app page (subscribers only). The feature tracks an athlete’s top three efforts in five categories and synthesizes cycling data to help them put their progress and performance into perspective.
Starting today, subscribers can:
  • Track their progress in new categories. Best Efforts highlights cyclists’ longest rides, rides with the most elevation gain, biggest individual climbs, and best power results achieved in intervals from 5 seconds to 1 hour.
  • Visualize their highlights. By easily accessing their current Best Efforts, an athlete can see the details of a specific activity during which they achieved that performance. The feature reviews previous rides, from the beginning of their presence on the platform, to identify their best efforts.
  • Dive into their activity data. In addition to seamlessly displaying the top three efforts, the feature shows the top five historical efforts for each year of Strava membership. To access it, simply click on “View Analysis” in any category to see year-over-year progress using a graph.
In their cycling version, Best Efforts will include the following intervals to measure best performances in both indoor and outdoor activities:
  • Distances: 10 km, 10 mi, 20 km, 40 km, 50 km, 50 mi, 80 km, 90 km, 100 km, 100 mi, 180 km.
  • Power/Time Intervals: 5 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, and 2 hours.
