FFWD Introduces New Raw Wheels

How do you improve a model that is already one of a kind? By staying true to what is already good and taking a leap forward in components. New lighter rims, stiffer and lighter carbon spokes, and hubs with CeramicSpeed bearings make up the new FFWD Raw wheels, available in three rim depths.

Carbon Spoke Strength

These wheels are the first carbon-spoked wheels and have been put to the test over the past two years. Heavy and powerful riders have taken on the challenge of testing these wheels to the maximum. With full confidence, the brand can state that these wheels meet high demands. Carbon spokes save weight but also bring the mass closer to the center of the wheel. This results in a more responsive wheelset. It also results in a stiffer wheel with a 17% increase in stiffness!

Hubs with CeramicSpeed Bearings

Carbon spokes require a special hub design. The level of the wheels demands ceramic bearings. For its custom hubs, FFWD has partnered with CeramicSpeed. Their bearings increase wheel performance in terms of durability and reduced rolling resistance. As usual, this FFWD hub is also equipped with an internal ratchet system.

A New Family with Options

A 44 mm rim is still perceived as the most versatile by most people. But the RYOT55 is also considered easy to handle and very popular. Add a truly lightweight pair for climbing and you have a complete family! That’s why the new RAW is launched in 33 (mm), 44 (mm), and 55 (mm). The rims are all available in a matte finish. But that’s not all! The Raw is the only model available in a glossy finish. All Raw rims are handmade in the Zwolle factory in the Netherlands.

The Numbers

The RAW33 pair weighs 1350 g, the RAW44 1395 g, and the RAW55 1460 g.

All models and options are offered at a price of €2499 per pair. Available from March 1st.
