They make their way on their bikes. On asphalt or trails, on folding bikes or cargo bikes, in the city or in the mountains. Twenty-two of them answered the call of the Soroptimist International Paris Fondateur association. From February 29 to March 13, their portraits will be exhibited as part of the “Women on Bikes” exhibition. A celebration of the plurality of women’s cycling to discover at the Mairie of the 7th arrondissement of Paris.

Year after year, women are becoming more visible on bikes, won over by this sporting practice that is gradually transforming into a true lifestyle. Louise, Tamara, Eva, Laurianne… for the duration of an exhibition, 22 women become spokespersons for those who conquer all terrains on their bikes. Through the captivating portraits of these cyclists from all walks of life, the exhibition celebrates the diversity of cycling in the capital.

“Cycling transcends its simple function as a means of transport to become a true vector of emancipation and liberation,” explains Eva Cordioli, Project Manager for “Women on Bikes”.

On the eve of a historic Olympic year and International Women’s Day, “Women on Bikes” highlights women’s cycling and the spirit of independence, self-transcendence, and enthusiasm that characterizes it.

The photographs that make up this exhibition were immortalized by Nicola Fioravanti, a street photographer and passionate cyclist, already a laureate of the Sony World Photography Awards and the International Photography Awards. The exhibition is orchestrated by Daniela Brignone, a renowned art historian and curator.

Several highlights will be organized alongside the exhibition; more information can be found on the Femmes à Vélo website.
