Factor unveils the new Ostro Vam, designed for those who demand the best.

This new iteration retains the responsiveness of the original Ostro Vam while offering unparalleled aerodynamic gains with a lower weight.

Factor Bikes announces the release of the new generation Ostro Vam. Designed and developed for speed, it has been shaped around precisely managed aerodynamic gains, while offering riders an uncompromising and highly responsive race bike.

Factor engineers sought to strike a balance between weight, stiffness, and aerodynamics, refusing to sacrifice any of these three critical elements at the expense of another. The result is a modern race bike for riders who demand precise handling, immediate power transfer, comfort on unforgiving roads, and low weight for optimal climbing performance.

The new Ostro Vam has already proven itself in the professional peloton with Stevie Williams, winner of the 2024 Santos Tour Down Under general classification.

Beyond straight-line speed

Starting with the front of the bike – primarily the fork and head tube – the engineering team systematically captured and re-evaluated aerodynamic gains as the design moved rearward. Every Factor concept was CFD modeled and evaluated in three ways to ensure these performance gains are delivered to the rider: independently, as a complete bike, and dynamically with rider input.

Designed, tested, and manufactured in-house by Factor, every design idea underwent hundreds of simulations throughout the development cycle before being verified in the wind tunnel and tested in real-world conditions. Key areas of optimization compared to the previous OSTRO VAM frame are the fork, head tube, top tube, and seatpost.

Factor’s rapid iteration, analysis, and optimization process resulted in a 70g drag reduction (a saving of seven watts) compared to the previous Ostro Vam frame, with aerodynamic benefits becoming more pronounced at yaw angles of 5-10°, which best represent real-world riding conditions.

In pursuit of every gram saved

With a frame weight of 820g in size 54 (with paint), savings were achieved through Factor’s aerodynamic improvements and in response to recent UCI tube width regulation updates. As a result, a size 54 Ostro Vam with standard components can easily be built as a complete bike under 6.8kg when paired with the new Black Inc 48/58 wheels. This represents a weight saving of 267.8g compared to the previous generation.

Rob Gitelis, founder of Factor Bikes and Black Inc, said: “With the launch of the new Ostro Vam, we are pushing the boundaries of carbon bike design and production to improve what was already a benchmark. The overall victory at the 2024 Santos Tour Down Under was a dream start for this bike, and we look forward to seeing professional riders and consumers reach new heights with this bike.”

Price and availability

The new Factor Ostro Vam is available exclusively from factorbikes.com and authorized Factor dealers worldwide. It can be purchased as a frameset, frameset with Black Inc 48/58 carbon disc brake wheels, or as a complete bike in sizes 45, 49, 52, 54, 56, 58, and 61.
