Specialized Launches All-New Propero 4 Helmet

The all-new Propero 4 is a helmet designed to combine the aerodynamic advantages of the S-Works Evade 3 with the ventilation of the S-Works Prevail 3, all with the comfort and confidence that Specialized helmets are renowned for. It also received the highest rating (5 stars) from the Virginia Tech® Helmet RatingTM of the internationally renowned Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. A helmet that has the good sense not to reach price peaks, at €190.

Every detail of the Propero 4 was created with the speed equation in mind.

Aerodynamics + Ventilation + Lightness = Speed.

Specialized has strived to make this high-performance helmet appealing in each of these categories, while ensuring it remains accessible to a wider range of cyclists, whether beginners or experienced riders collecting KOMs/QOMs.

Inspired by the best to deliver the best

The Propero 4 draws its DNA from the famous S-Works Evade 3 and S-Works Prevail 3 helmets. These two iconic helmets adorn the heads of today’s greatest cyclists such as world champion Lotte Kopecky, Demi Vollering, Remco Evenepoel, and Primož Roglič. Today, Specialized makes the dream of racing like the pros a reality with the Propero 4 – by taking victory-winning technologies and making them available to all riders who want to experience breathtaking speed.

The brand started with aerodynamics. It drew inspiration from the cutting-edge S-Works Evade 3 and integrated this aerodynamic engineering directly into the Propero 4. Then came ventilation, because we know that a helmet must be more than aerodynamic to be truly fast in all conditions. Specialized learned from the S-Works Prevail 3 and used Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to design rear vents that promote better airflow and increase cooling capacity. The result? A well-balanced helmet that offers cyclists the best of both worlds: speed and ventilation. And to top it all off, the brand made sure this helmet is lightweight at 290g (Medium, CE).

Time spent in the Win Tunnel validated that the Propero 4 is four watts faster than the S-Works Prevail 3, which represents a 15-second gain over 40 km, at an average speed of 45 km/h.

Ventilation

In addition to building on the S-Works Prevail 3 design, Specialized has developed a new way to increase airflow, which debuts on the Propero 4: Micro Channeling. These are small, offset 2mm micro-channels that create turbulence in the airflow through the helmet to help create continuous, cooling airflow. Micro Channeling is inspired by how a clothes dryer works – in the same way your clothes tumble, ensuring every fiber is completely dry. Micro Channeling ensures that all the air inside your helmet circulates to constantly draw in cool air and expel warm air, creating a fresh feeling.

The Propero 4 also benefits from MIPS technology for added confidence and a fit system that provides comfort on long rides.
