The 79th edition of the Vuelta will take place from August 17 to September 8. Nine high-altitude finishes are on the program.
After a start in Lisbon, Portugal, with a 12 km individual time trial, the race will tackle its first major difficulties on the heights of Pico Villuercas in Extremadura, before heading towards Andalusia. But it’s only from the second week of racing that the high-altitude finishes will follow one another, first in Asturias at the summit of Cuitu Negru then at the Lakes of Covadonga, before three epic final days with finishes at the summits of Alto de Moncalvillo and Picon Blanco, before a final 22 km individual time trial in Madrid on September 8.
