Building on POC’s experience in winter sports and cycling, the Calyx is a multifunctional helmet for skiing, mountaineering, and cycling. Benefiting from numerous POC innovations in performance and protection, the Calyx provides its services for city cycling as well as for conquering mountain peaks.

Thanks to its design and development approach, the Calyx is perfectly suited for skiing, snowboarding, mountaineering, and cycling. It can be used to cycle to the ski resort, then venture off-piste. It is also ideal for enjoying the slopes, the snowpark, spending a day rock climbing, or for daily bike commutes. Thanks to its ventilation system and easily customizable modular design, it naturally adapts to the activity and its environment.

Multi-certification

The Calyx and Calyx Carbon helmets are designed and certified for skiing, mountaineering, and cycling. These three certification standards are different. Each requires international certifications designed for that specific use. Ski and bike certifications are well known. Although requirements differ by country, they are common. They mainly consist of a drop test to ensure safety and impact resistance. Mountaineering certification requires a completely different development process and testing. Helmets must be able to withstand significant falls, as well as penetration forces such as those corresponding to falling rocks.

While at first glance it looks like a classic ski helmet, the Calyx’s sleek appearance conceals many technical details and advanced materials. For example, the use of an innovative woven material that protects the helmet, optimizes ventilation, and creates a unique silhouette. Obtaining multi-certification requires a range of carefully selected materials to meet the constraints. Both the Calyx and Calyx Carbon feature an optimized dual-density PPE structure. It is highly resistant and provides protection against multiple impacts. The ABS and carbon shells of the Calyx are exceptionally resistant to wear and impact. Their material thickness is optimized throughout the helmet. The carbon model’s shell is naturally more resistant for a lower weight.

The Calyx’s ventilation system is designed to promote airflow. Its purpose is to maintain an optimal temperature during ski touring ascents, as well as descents on slopes or city bike rides on weekends. The specific linear channels inside the helmet are inspired by POC’s road and mountain bike helmets. They allow air to circulate freely around the head. POC cycling helmets also inspired the ventilation openings on the top of the helmet. These evacuate hot air during your activities thanks to a chimney effect. This helmet also features a three-position ventilation adjustment system, allowing it to be precisely adjusted to your needs.

The goggle strap clip, foldable ear pads, and neck gaiter are designed to be easily removed or put in place depending on the activity or season.

Precise adjustment system – with transport mode

The Calyx adjustment system offers the superior fit and comfort of POC helmets. Simply turn the rear dial for a comfortable, personalized fit. An integrated three-level vertical adjustment system allows for even more personalized adjustment. New: the Calyx adjustment system is fully retractable. It can be fully pushed into the helmet in “transport mode.” This is an asset for using the helmet in the mountains or storing it for transport.

RECCO® and Mips Evolve

Like the rest of POC helmets, the Calyx incorporates many elements that optimize safety. A RECCO® reflector integrated into the helmet facilitates localization by rescue teams if the person is lost in the mountains or caught in an avalanche. In addition, the reliable Mips Evolve system optimizes protection against rotational impacts.

Ear pads

Two attachment clips on each ear pad keep them securely in place. The foldable ear pads are very flexible. The specific design of the helmet allows them to be folded inwards for transport and storage. Easily removable, these ear pads have been precisely designed to adapt to the helmet’s silhouette. Thus, the user can wear the helmet with or without ear pads depending on the weather. They can also use the neck gaiter.

Neck gaiter

The helmet is designed and supplied with a matching neck gaiter. It allows users to adapt their equipment according to their preferences.

Seamless Fit

All POC helmets benefit from our Seamless Fit. From the beginning of the development process, we ensure that our helmets and goggles integrate perfectly to work in perfect harmony. Whatever you demand of them and whatever the intensity of your days in the mountains, they fit ideally to perform optimally. No interference, no compromise on experience or performance: just an impeccable Seamless Fit. The Calyx is the perfect example, especially when paired with the brand new Vitrea goggles.
