In 2021, Pierre Hérant completed the longest possible bike tour of France, following the country’s administrative and land borders exactly. In this beautiful book, he recounts these 7,600 km, detailed in a moving and thrilling narrative. Stage after stage, Pierre Hérant describes the discoveries, landscapes, and encounters this journey brought him. Richly illustrated, this work takes us on a humble and inspiring journey.

Pierre Hérant was born in Touraine and lives in Nice, very close to the Southern Alps mountains. He dedicated his professional career to environmental protection and energy savings. Always passionate about mountains, nature, travel, and reading, he constantly combines these four passions in his writing.
While Pierre Hérant tells us about a cycling journey here, he is also an adventurer on foot: he has completed numerous treks and long hikes in France (crossing France from Nice to Mont Saint-Michel, full crossing of the Pyrenees…) and in different parts of the world (Nepalese and Indian Himalayas, Japan, Tassili, Reunion and La Palma islands…).
After a “small” 3700 km cyclocamping tour of France in 2020, he embarked in 2021 on the longest possible tour of France, as close as possible to the borders and coastlines.
