Zwift revolutionizes the indoor trainer with the Hub One

Zwift is upgrading its Hub indoor trainer – which becomes the Hub One – by introducing the Zwift Cog, a revolutionary system that ensures compatibility with all drivetrains on the market, from 8 to 12 speeds. Indoor training has never been so simple and accessible to such a large number of cyclists, from pre-teens to professional racers.

Zwift introduces a new version of its connected indoor trainer launched last year with the Zwift Hub One. This indoor trainer is compatible with almost all bikes, from teen mountain bikes (8 speeds and up) to the most advanced triathlon machines. This revolutionary system works with a single cog compatible with 8- to 12-speed chains and fast, smooth, and silent virtual shifting, which until now was only available on very expensive smart trainers. This innovation allows for gear changes without noise or chain skipping, even when shifting under heavy load. It is also much quieter than a chain shifting on a cassette.

Shifting on Zwift is done using the Zwift Click, a wireless controller included with the Zwift Hub One indoor trainer. This new controller has + and – buttons to initiate shifts, and is designed to be easily mounted on any handlebar (road, flat, and TT) using two rubber straps.

From its launch, the Zwift Hub One will feature 24 virtual gears, a wide enough range of developments to tackle all Zwift terrains with minimal gaps between gears. The simulated drivetrain is equivalent to a 53-39 front and 10-38 rear setup. The Zwift Hub One automatically calculates the actual gear ratio of the bike mounted on the indoor trainer at the start of each ride. This gear ratio calibration also offers new benefits for cyclists using smaller chainrings, such as those found on Gravel bikes and mountain bikes.

Those who already own a Hub will also be able to benefit from virtual shifting if they have Zwift Play controllers, an option that already allows for better in-game navigation while offering steering and braking controls. Zwift Play are only compatible with road handlebars and are available for purchase separately at a price of €99 on Zwift.com.

For those who wish to benefit from all the advantages of the Zwift Hub One, a Zwift Cog + Zwift Click upgrade pack will be offered for purchase. The Zwift Cog is pre-installed on a freehub body and is easily installed with the included tools. The upgrade pack will be available for €59.99 for a limited time after its launch. The price will then be €79.99. Zwift Play and Click accessories can be paired with Zwift at the same time, to shift gears from multiple locations on the handlebars.

The Zwift Hub One is available for purchase starting October 10, 2023. The Zwift Hub, with the choice of a traditional 8- to 12-speed cassette, will continue to be sold under the new name Zwift Hub Classic. Both models are sold at a price of €599 and include one year of Zwift subscription.

We will soon be offering a full review of the Zwift Hub One in a few weeks.
