The Concours des Machines, the annual gathering of cycle artisans for the past 7 years, following its revival by the association of the same name, was held this year in Rambouillet during the Paris-Brest-Paris; an international celebration of long-distance cycling.

Frame builders were invited to present a bike meeting demanding specifications for long-distance road cycling while promoting versatility.

Each bike was presented before a jury and a technical committee, chaired by Florence Gall (General Delegate of the cycling industry) accompanied by recognized personalities in the cycling world:

  • Clémence Legrand (project manager at Cocyclette)
  • Sebastien Klein (frame builder at Brevet Cycles)
  • Jean Louis Frechin (director of NO-design agency)
  • Claude Droussent (former editor-in-chief of Vélo Magazine)
  • Jean Yves Couput (innovation director at Amer sport)
  • Jean Pierre Mary (nationally recognized randonneur)
  • Victor Brion (frame builder at Cyfac)
  • Cédric Le Men (painter at Orion Paintworks)

It was through his interpretation of the specifications that this young and talented artisan stood out from the 17 other competitors: creation of a bamboo “truss” frame and fork, integration of lighting and all cables, creation of carbon and bamboo mudguards, and many other details…

Thus, the Gamory-Cycles bamboo bike was awarded the highest distinction by the jury, the ultimate recognition of cycling craftsmanship for the quality of work, creativity, and reliability of the bikes manufactured.

Gamory-Cycles also received the award for the best luggage solution for its set of custom-made artisanal bags.

To put them to the test, the machines had to participate in the Paris-Brest-Paris: the flagship long-distance randonnée event, created in 1891 and held every 4 years. This year, it brought together 6,800 participants from 70 different countries in Rambouillet.

The Gamory-Cycles bamboo bike, ridden by Louis Segré, its creator, devoured the 1219km of the Paris-Brest-Paris in 75 hours.

A real springboard for the Gamory-Cycles workshop, these distinctions come at a time when the company is expanding with an installation planned for October in Le Bessat in the Pilat park, 15 minutes from Saint Etienne, a historic city in bicycle manufacturing.

In its new workshop, Gamory-Cycles will continue to offer custom bamboo bikes as well as the creation of bike bags and the possibility of attending a workshop to build one’s own bamboo bike.
