Giant launches the all-new Defy. Designed with a completely redesigned frame and adapted components, each model ensures a perfect blend of lightness, efficiency and comfort to offer a high level of endurance road performance.
This 5th generation of the Defy offers several models at different price points, giving riders of all levels the opportunity to ride further and faster with efficiency, comfort and control. Three series are available: Defy Advanced SL, Defy Advanced Pro and Defy Advanced. Tests have shown that all models have superior weight and performance compared to the previous generation’s top-of-the-range bike: the Defy Advanced Pro.

The new Defy endurance road bike is made to go further, higher, faster. With it, you will reach your limits, and exceed them.
This fifth generation of the DEFY road bike brings together everything that matters to cyclists looking for a machine dedicated to endurance and performance. It is lighter, livelier and more efficient. This new Defy will be the ideal companion for a day ride, a granfondo or an ambitious personal challenge.

Simplicity for performance

Devoid of frills, the frame is among the lightest in its category. Offering a perfect balance between efficiency, high performance and the enjoyment needed for long rides.

Material elasticity

Designed to respond to the slightest pedal stroke, the Advanced SL composite frame and fork offer fluid handling to reduce fatigue on long rides. The new D-Fuse components work together to absorb shocks and vibrations from road irregularities. You are riding a true endurance road bike.

Total control

The new Contact D-Fuse handlebar combines ergonomics and vibration filtering for long rides. The wide carbon rims (22.4 mm internal width) have been designed to accommodate tires up to 38 mm, and their ideal 36 mm depth makes them very lively and very safe in crosswinds. Ideal for endurance rides.

D-Fuse Technology

Material mastery

Beyond the frames, each new Defy features integrated “comfort-focused” components. The composite seatpost created by Giant a decade ago and now commonly used by other brands, is the first. Originally used for Giant professional cyclocross racers, D-Fuse technology made its way to Defy bikes in 2018.

The design is based on a D-shaped composite tube that absorbs shocks and adds up to 7mm of flex. This significantly reduces the impact of shocks and vibrations that propagate through one of the bike’s key contact points: the saddle. Tests show that the new Defy Advanced SL endurance road bike frame and seatpost produce a combined flexibility 42% greater than the previous generation Defy Advanced Pro.

This technology is also applied to the front of the bike with the new Contact SLR/SL handlebars. They use D-shaped composite tubes on the upper part, which creates greater downward flexibility while increasing upward stiffness. This means that shock absorption is improved, but also efficiency during intense efforts such as sprints or climbs, when pulling on the handlebars. The new D-Fuse Contact SLR handlebar, which equips the Defy Advanced SL endurance road bike models and some Defy Advanced Pro models, offers 40% greater flexibility compared to the previous generation.
