Michele Negri, from Lombardy, won the men’s race and the general classification with a 40-minute lead over French cyclist Thomas Bonaud, who finished second overall.

Winner with an overall time of 15h30m, Michele, 30, a software engineer at NTT Data, said: “Winning the Haute Route Alpes is truly a dream for me, it’s like the Tour de France for amateurs, given the route and all the support offered by the organizers. Arriving in Nice was like arriving on the Champs-Élysées. This was the goal I set for myself this year and for which I trained hard. The race was mentally tough, with my ranking evolving over the stages, so I had to force myself to stay focused and persevere.”

The women competing in this 2023 edition of the Haute Route Alpes delivered formidable performances, with two riders finishing in the top 10 of the general classification. Samantha Arnaudo, from Savigliano, Cuneo, won the women’s race and finished eighth overall with a time of 16h45m.

Germany’s Janine Meyer, winner of the women’s classification in the 2022 edition (21st place overall), took second place and tenth overall with a time of 16h54m.
