While more and more brands are competing with the famous American brand with the O logo, a new one is gradually making its breakthrough to play in the big leagues. SunGod is making its entry with the INEOS Grenadiers team, as the entire team wears these glasses. The version we had in our hands, or rather on our nose, is none other than a model worn by Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, who won the world championships with them… The scene is set.

SunGod, like Oakley, is an American brand. This eyewear brand has been operating since 2013 and is committed to being environmentally friendly: carbon-neutral operations, and 1% of the sale price is donated to environmental protection… For all this information, we’ll let you form your own opinion and visit their website: https://www.sungod.co/en-fr/

First of all, we must highlight the speed of reception and communication with the brand, two very important points (especially in case of after-sales service, the brand ensures repair or exchange depending on the breakage, the glasses are guaranteed for life). Once the model is chosen, reception is within a maximum of 5 days via DPD.

The range of choices is extensive. In our case, we opted for a choice similar to that of the multiple world champion: a frameless model on the top and bottom, an Iridium lens, and transparent/matte temples. The first thing that strikes us once the case is open is the quality of manufacturing; these are glasses where a lot of importance has been given to the finish. Everything is very clean, neat, and of high quality. The lens is supposed to adapt to luminosity, offering between 34 and 79% light transmission. This is a rather good option if you want a single pair of glasses for all weather conditions.

On the field
Presentation done, it remains to test the product on the field. The pair wraps well around the face and provides good eye protection from external elements, wind or insects. On the other hand, in hot weather, sweat accumulates because they breathe less well than a thinner pair. It’s always a matter of compromise… Although this pair of Airas, with its large screen, offers rather good breathability.

The lens is also well-crafted, contrasts are good, and the brightness with this pair is rather excellent. They are more advisable for days when clouds are dominant than for a summer day without a cloud in sight. These conditions would require more contrasted lenses. The photochromic property of the lenses did not entirely convince us. More contrast, but for great versatility, it’s perfect.

The only minor annoyance is an occasional blue spot: a window, a rearview mirror, linked to the iridium screen creating a mirror effect with iridescent reflections on the outer surface of the lens. It’s barely noticeable, but intriguing. We also note the delivery with four pairs of nose pads allowing the glasses to be best adapted to the face, which allows the lens to be moved further or closer.

At €170 for the pair, the quality is commensurate with its price. It’s at the top of the range, like the current leader. SunGod is also moving towards a range of more Lifestyle glasses for everyday life, holidays, and sun!
So, to summarize, this pair of glasses boasts a rather trendy style, different from other brands. The frame and lens are of high quality, but our model is limited in very bright conditions. In such cases, it’s better to opt for smoke, green, HV blue, or Gold lenses.
