Ekoï and Pininfarina Unveil the Aerodinamica Helmet

Ekoï presents the first cycling helmet designed by Pininfarina. Performance and safety are priorities for Ekoï designers and Pininfarina designers. The Ekoï Aerodinamica helmet is worn by 4 teams throughout the Tour de France.

The cycling equipment brand Ekoï is proud to present its new Aerodinamica helmet on the day of the Grand Départ of the Tour de France. More than just a name, it reflects the very essence of its design and gives a strong nod to the history of the designers of the famous Pininfarina house. In 1936, Battista Pinin Farina designed one of his first cars: the Lancia Aprilia Aerodinamica, resolutely destined for competition. 87 years later, the Italian automotive designer Pininfarina designs a bicycle helmet for the first time on the occasion of an exceptional collaboration with Ekoï.

When design meets aerodynamics

A simple brief: a helmet that makes no compromise between elegance and performance! This was the mission entrusted to Ekoï engineers and Pininfarina designers. In Fréjus as in Cambiano, several months of research and development were necessary to achieve the desired result: the Ekoï Aerodinamica helmet designed by Pininfarina.

From the helmet’s pronounced curves, extensively studied in Pininfarina’s mythical wind tunnel, to the choice of very racing colors, and the incorporation of the latest safety innovations, no detail has been left to chance for this work of art, halfway between science and sport.

Koroyd® technology: an innovation for safety

Without absolute confidence in their equipment, no cyclist can fully express their potential. The Ekoï Aerodinamica helmet has been shaped to allow the most explosive, fast, and quick riders to gain precious watts during decisive moments. Sprints are, by nature, particularly turbulent moments where the slightest error is not an option.

The Ekoï Aerodinamica helmet judiciously integrates 4 inserts of Koroyd® technology. The latter consists of a honeycomb structure of long, thin tubes thermo-welded together and composed of 95% air. The walls of the tubes, among the thinnest in the world, crush regularly in the event of an impact, absorbing the kinetic energy of the shock on the front and side of the helmet. This unique property reduces damage to the skull while offering: a real feeling of coolness thanks to the circulation of air through the tubes and a feeling of lightness.

A helmet awaited by the peloton riders

Meeting numerous objectives: comfort, design, lightness, aerodynamics, and safety, the Ekoï Aerodinamica helmet quickly caught the attention of professional riders who were able to test it during the development phase. Giacomo Nizzolo and Caleb Ewan have already benefited from its gains during sprints, winning respectively the Tro Bro Léon and the Van Merksteijn Fences Classic. For the Tour de France, Ekoï Aerodinamica will be one of the most visible helmets as it will be worn by 4 teams in the peloton: Israel-Premier Tech, Lotto-Dstny, Arkéa-Samsic, and Cofidis.
