Suunto Unveils the Vertical, for Those Who Choose Adventure

Suunto, renowned for its multisport GPS watches and training tools, today unveils the Suunto Vertical. The Finnish firm’s new adventure GPS watch is entirely manufactured using 100% renewable energy and features brand-new offline mapping and detailed weather forecasts. All this is packed into a model designed for adventurers, integrating unbeatable autonomy enhanced by solar charging.

To support its users in their adventures, Suunto integrates detailed and free offline mapping worldwide. The Suunto Vertical is a trusted guide for exploring the highest peaks, the steepest valleys, and all kinds of terrain in between. The maps are based on those already existing in the Suunto app, which also offer the possibility to create new routes via the heat map, 3D maps, and surface types.

Meticulously designed, it also pays homage to the design of the original Suunto compass. Its large 1.4″ touchscreen protected by sapphire glass allows optimal visibility of its data when conditions are not. It’s easy to handle and suitable even when using gloves, thanks to the clearly articulated buttons.

Unrivaled autonomy

The Suunto Vertical offers battery life that goes beyond all Suunto watches and its competitors, enhanced by solar charging on Titanium models. It offers three battery modes ranging from 60 hours in Performance mode (1 GPS point per second, dual-frequency signal) to 500 hours in Endurance mode (1 GPS point every 10 minutes). Solar charging increases autonomy performance by 30%, allowing adventurers to record up to 30 days of expedition without having to worry about the battery.

This new model offers unparalleled accuracy thanks to the dual-band GNSS system, capable of connecting to five satellite systems (GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BEIDOU, QZSS) and up to 32 individual satellites simultaneously.

Athlete’s words

Maud Perrin, French Acrobatic Paragliding Champion: “I really like this new Suunto, and what I particularly appreciate are the maps with 3 different backgrounds visible directly on the watch, and the variometer. The combination with the Suunto app is perfect and allows me to easily track and analyze my training every day.”

Responsible design

With the Suunto Vertical, the Finnish firm continues its environmental commitment. It is designed to be durable and repairable and, like all Suunto watches, handcrafted in Finland with 100% renewable energy. Its carbon footprint has been calculated and is fully offset in VCUs (Verified Carbon Units). Throughout its lifespan, it creates only 6.59 kg of CO2, equivalent to a fossil fuel car traveling 39 km.

95 sport modes

The Suunto Vertical is a high-end adventure watch that doesn’t compromise on daily training and preparation before races or adventures. Its large screen makes data easy to read during exercise. All sport modes feature specific data screens. There are over 95 sport modes ranging from trail running to swimming and gravel. For those who want even more features, it’s possible to customize sport modes from the Suunto app or by integrating additional widgets via the SuuntoPlus Store.
