The home of the Tour de France, France is also a great nation for everyday and leisure cycling. In 2022, the cycling market represented almost 2.5 billion euros, a billion more in 3 years. The bicycle has become the best-selling means of transport in France: in 2021, 42% of transport sold were bicycles. This enthusiasm of the French has not escaped Zyclora, the European leader in the sale of reconditioned bicycles, which is setting out to conquer the French market.
The story began in 2015 with the opening of one of the first online stores for reconditioned bicycles. The company, a pioneer in the sector, immediately met with great success, which accelerated further after the pandemic. In 2022, Zyclora achieved a turnover of 8 million euros and has the largest European catalog of second-hand bicycles with 1,000 bicycles in stock to date.
An exclusive partnership with Troc-Vélo
For its launch in France, Zyclora has partnered with Troc-Vélo.com, the leading platform for buying and reselling cycling and outdoor equipment in France. With a catalog of over 85,000 listings offered by a very active community of cyclists and outdoor sports enthusiasts, the partnership seemed obvious to offer cycling enthusiasts access to Zyclora’s reconditioned and certified bicycles. For Borja Mesonero-Romanos, co-CEO of Zyclora: “we could not have hoped for better for our arrival in France than to partner with the French leader in used bicycles. Driven by a common passion but also by the importance of customer experience, we work hand in hand to offer French cyclists the best second-hand products available on the market.”

The reconditioned second-hand bicycle: the most economical and sustainable option
While cycling is a resounding success, Zyclora and its second-hand model offer very interesting opportunities to French consumers. The bicycles offered are 30% to 50% cheaper than their new equivalent. “The second-hand option has a double virtue of economy and durability. Knowing that the manufacture of a bicycle involves between 125 and 300 kg of CO2, reconditioning allows existing bikes to be reused while saving money,” explains Juan Domingo Carretero, co-CEO of Zyclora. Popular with the French, the second-hand market represented more than 7 billion euros in 2022 and 74% of online buyers say they automatically check if the product is available second-hand before buying it new.
A network of certified mechanics for 6 years
More than 10,000 bicycles sold since its creation, an average of 400 sales per month, the company relies on a team of certified mechanics to guarantee the highest quality and best durability of its products: “to attract cyclists and convince them to buy on the second-hand market, it is essential to guarantee them high-quality bicycles. To do this, we chose to create a team of mechanics specializing in bicycle reconditioning. We are first and foremost cycling enthusiasts and we are committed to offering the best customer experience with durable and quality bicycles,” declares Juan Domingo Carretero.

Europe’s largest catalog
Zyclora stands out for the very large catalog it offers its customers: more than 1,000 reconditioned bicycles are offered for sale, with all types of use (road, mountain, electric bikes), models and brands (Specialized, Giant, Lapierre, Orbea, Trek…). This allows for a wide choice for cyclists while avoiding the disadvantages linked to the current situation, namely the lack of stock due to very strong demand. Finally, Zyclora, with more than 6 years of experience in the reconditioned bicycle sector, offers guarantees of quality: reconditioning certified by professionals, 1 year warranty and 100% secure payments.
Development in France is a key step for Zyclora as it constitutes the very first stage of its internationalization before opening up to other countries such as Germany, Italy, Portugal and the United Kingdom in 2024.
