New Selle Italia products for road and mountain bikes

At the American Sea Otter Classic show, Selle Italia presents its new products for the world of road bikes and mountain bikes: from Model Y, the new MTB saddle from the Greentech collection, to Novus Boost Evo 3D with a 3D printed cover for road bikes, and Smart Tape, the 100% recyclable handlebar tape.

From April 20 to 23, California hosts the Sea Otter Classic, the traditional cycling event with hundreds of exhibitors and a packed calendar of races and events designed for everyone. Thanks to its position in the calendar, Sea Otter Classic is the ideal opportunity for companies to present their new products, and Selle Italia will unveil two new products from the Greentech collection and a new saddle with a 3D printed cover during the show.

The Greentech collection expands with Model Y and Smart Tape

Greentech production technology is an automated process, entirely developed by Selle Italia, which allows for high-quality products with a low environmental impact. The production process consists of mechanically assembling the saddle components, without any use of adhesives, solvents, or other polluting substances. From this production process came the Model X saddle family, and now the new Greentech collection is born: Model Y.

The Model Y saddle, like its sister Model X, is produced by mechanically assembling the parts, without any pollutants, and is recyclable because, at the end of its life cycle, its components can be sent for recycling. In addition, the entire production process, patented by the Treviso-based company, is zero-kilometer as it involves companies located within a 15 km radius of its headquarters: an additional element in favor of reducing CO2 emissions.

Developed for the off-road world, the new Model Y saddle features a neutral shape that guarantees adequate support for cyclists with pronounced pelvic anteversion or retroversion and promotes and optimizes the movements and returns to the saddle typical of off-road riding.

The Model Y saddle is a T-shaped saddle that allows for a more dynamic pedaling style, with a Superflow hole to reduce pressure on the perineal area. However, the saddle cover is closed to prevent mud from passing through the hole.

Model Y is available in idmatch size L1 with TI316 rail.

Smart Tape handlebar tape

The second new product in the Greentech collection is the Smart Tape handlebar tape. It comes as a single strip with an integrated cap made of the same material, which facilitates assembly. It is manufactured without the traditional internal double-sided adhesive strip: the special “suction cup” microstructure compensates for the absence of glue and allows the handlebar tape to be reused once it has been removed from the handlebar. With a thickness of 2.5 millimeters, it guarantees high comfort and grip and saves up to 20% of the time required for gluing.

Novus Boost Evo 3D

After the success of the SLR Boost 3D saddle, presented last year, Selle Italia introduces the Novus Boost Evo 3D saddle, composed of a 3D printed cover with a specific and exclusive pattern. This saddle has a wavy shape and is therefore ideal for those with posterior pelvic rotation and who need a more stable position on the saddle: the new Novus Boost Evo 3D retains this characteristic and features the new cover developed with Carbon DLS.

Thanks to this technology, the saddle features differentiated cushioning zones that offer progressive cushioning over the entire surface, thus meeting the rider’s comfort and support needs while pedaling. Made in idmatch size L3 with a Superflow hole to reduce pressure in the perineal area, it is available with carbon and TI316 rails.

The Model Y, Novus Boost Evo 3D saddles and Smart Tape will be available in stores and on the selleitalia.com website from mid-May 2023.
