Unlimited battery life and integrated flashlight for the new Garmin Instinct 2X Solar

The new Instinct^® 2X Solar is even more robust and durable. This new 50mm version integrates an LED flashlight and solar glass, providing unlimited battery life in smartwatch mode.

Garmin today announced the new Instinct 2X Solar, the latest models in the popular Instinct 2 line of rugged smartwatches. The Instinct 2X Solar and Instinct 2X Solar – Tactical Edition watches feature a large monochrome display and an LED flashlight in a 50mm fiber-reinforced polymer case. To withstand the most extreme environments, these watches have been developed according to US military standards (MIL-STD-810) for heat, shock, and water resistance, and are water-rated to 10 ATM. They are equipped with scratch-resistant, chemically strengthened Power Glass^®. This solar glass helps improve battery life by producing 50% more energy than the standard Instinct 2 solar smartwatch model. Additionally, the watch offers unlimited battery life in smartwatch mode.

“This new model in the Instinct 2 series is a rugged GPS smartwatch designed to follow you everywhere with precision, even in the most extreme conditions.

Thanks to its high-quality sensors, the Instinct 2X provides a wealth of health information such as sleep analysis, heart rate monitoring, and stress levels, as well as personalized training advice to help you achieve your goals. Its unique design is perfectly compatible with your various lifestyles. Whether you’re in the wilderness, at the gym, or at work, you can wear it with style. With its unlimited battery life and integrated LED flashlight, you can focus on your activities without having to worry about recharging it,” explains Dan Bartel, Garmin Vice President of Global Consumer Sales.

Integrated flashlight, the option that makes the difference

The Instinct 2X Solar is equipped with an integrated LED flashlight whose brightness and color (red or white) are customizable. This powerful and very useful LED light provides optimal visibility when setting up camp at night or in any life situation. In strobe mode, the LEDs follow the rhythm of your run. It thus becomes a safety tool to allow runners to remain visible on the road. The Instinct also benefits from an SOS mode.

Innovative tools to stay connected and healthy

The Instinct 2X Solar offers features and data to achieve fitness and wellness goals, as well as tools for easier navigation during adventures:

• 24/7 wrist-based heart rate, sleep, respiration rate, and blood oxygen level tracking with the Pulse Ox sensor.
• Built-in sports apps for running, cycling, swimming, strength training, and more, as well as personalized training functions based on performance data recorded by the watch.
• Improved overall health, training, and recovery tracking thanks to heart rate variability during sleep, based on technology developed by Garmin’s Firstbeat Analytics team.
• A new multi-band GNSS system that provides even more precise GPS positioning.
• Integrated 3-axis compass sensors including a barometric altimeter to monitor weather and altitude changes.
• The TracBack feature allows you to return to the starting point or a reference point from your current location.
• Stay connected with smart notifications, Garmin Pay contactless payments, and the Connect IQ^™ app store.

New activity profile added for obstacle course racing

The Instinct 2X Solar is the first smartwatch to offer the Obstacle Course activity. This activity will allow athletes to manually record obstacle sections on the first loop. The device will then automatically track subsequent loops. The Obstacle Course activity provides information such as the number of laps completed on a given course, their durations, the number of obstacles, the time spent on each obstacle, as well as various statistics between obstacles (distance, pace, cadence, stride length, etc.), altitude profile, heart rate, and distance covered.

All the tools to successfully complete missions

The Instinct 2X Solar – Tactical Edition features functionalities dedicated to tactical operations, such as the Jumpmaster function for skydiving, GPS point projection, and dual-format GPS data display. It is also compatible with night vision and has a stealth mode that prevents GPS location sharing and disables wireless communications. Although the GPS position remains visible on the watch screen when this mode is activated, it is neither shared nor saved in the device’s memory, allowing the watch to be used in risky areas without revealing the location.

For navigation during night operations, the LED flashlight of the Instinct 2X Solar – Tactical Edition can project white or green light. Green light is particularly suitable for not compromising natural night vision.
