Strava, the leading platform for athletes, has announced a new in-app integration with Spotify, the world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service. This new feature will allow users to seamlessly listen to music and podcasts while recording their activities on Strava.
Starting today, users can play, pause, resume, skip, and browse their Spotify favorites from the Strava recording screen. This new integration prevents both free and Premium Spotify users from switching between apps during an activity, while also allowing them to tap into an additional source of motivation.
Now, Spotify users can launch their workout playlists directly from Strava. In fact, Spotify notes that I’m Good (Blue) by Bebe Rexha and David Guetta, Industry Baby (feat. Jack Harlow) by Jack Harlow and Lil Nas X, and Unholy (feat. Kim Petras) by Sam Smith and Kim Petras were among the most listened-to tracks during a workout last month.* Additionally, with the London Marathon approaching, Calvin Harris, Florence + The Machine, and David Guetta are among the artists most frequently added to user-generated “London Marathon” playlists**.
Strava is taking over Spotify’s very popular “Workout” playlist. Starting April 20, listeners of this playlist will be able to motivate themselves with a series of tracks selected by Strava.

The Spotify widget now appears on the Strava recording screen, allowing users to seamlessly connect to the music and podcasts that motivate them to move.
“Over time, music consumption has evolved dramatically, from physical formats to streaming, which has allowed audio to inspire and touch us like never before,” explains Mateo Ortega, Strava’s Vice President of Connected Partnerships. “We are excited to partner with a global leader like Spotify to seamlessly integrate music onto the platform. This new feature strengthens Strava’s position as the go-to platform for athletes and continues to demonstrate the power of Strava’s global community of active people.”
Ian Geller, Vice President of Business Development at Spotify, states: “At Spotify, one of our main goals is to be present wherever our listeners are, whether it’s a run, a workout, or any other circumstance. This integration with Strava is another way to support our listeners and allow them to easily connect with the audio content they love.”
