Pirelli launches the new P ZERO Race TLR Made In Italy

Pirelli launches the new P ZERO Race TLR, produced in Pirelli’s modern and innovative factory in Milan-Bollate.

Pirelli launches the new P ZERO Race TLR, the tubeless model of the eponymous tubed tire, designed for road bikes. This product has been redesigned to incorporate new technologies and is now produced in Pirelli’s modern and innovative factory in Milan-Bollate.

Pirelli’s tubeless ready tire is the fastest in the entire range of road tires: a characteristic requested not only by amateurs, but also by the World Tour teams Pirelli collaborates with, including Trek-Segafredo and AG2R Citroën, recently joined by the Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team.

The culmination of a complex project involving different branches of Pirelli’s R&D, as well as the teams that have already tested it in the field, the P ZERO Race TLR features an innovative technology called SPEEDCORE.

SPEEDCORE: reinforced casing

The P ZERO Race TLR tire has a tread made of the SmartEVO compound, a latest-generation polymer compound designed to offer optimal grip and low rolling resistance. The inside of the tire differs from the previous version, with the use of the new SPEEDCORE technology, which promotes low rolling resistance and optimal puncture protection by reinforcing the casing (without making it stiff) through the use of aramid fibers. Indeed, aramid has physicochemical characteristics that allow it to offer high resistance to traction, shear, and heat, thus improving the mechanical properties of the tire itself.

Fast, highly resistant, and flexible tire

This innovative technology was developed through Pirelli’s experimentation in the field of racing tire compounds and has reduced rolling resistance, improving the fluidity of this tire by 24% compared to the previous P ZERO Race TLR (tests carried out internally by Pirelli with 28-622 size tires). The aramid fibers bond uniformly with the other chemical elements of the rubber and are homogeneously distributed in the structure, which promotes the required mechanical properties, namely low rolling resistance, increased puncture resistance, and less stiffness. Thanks to SPEEDCORE, the structure of the new P ZERO Race TLR is therefore much more flexible and thinner than a traditional butyl rubber layer.

Its improved mechanical resistance characteristics compared to the previous version of the product offer a better level of puncture protection than that of a conventional bead-to-bead fabric lining.

The weight and excellent grip and reliability characteristics on dry and wet surfaces remain unchanged compared to the previously marketed model, confirming the versatility and reliability of this product, which is a benchmark in its category.

The P ZERO Race TLR is already available in sizes 26-622, 28-622, 30-622 (all also available in Classic version) as well as in size 32-622 with black sidewalls. Sizes 35-622 and 40-622 are expected to be released later this year.
