A little less than four years after the release of the Force eTap AXS 12-speed, Sram is offering a new version of its mid-to-high-end groupset, which aims to be more ergonomic, lighter, and better finished, with even more options and performance that closely approaches that of the Red groupset.

The new Force, now more simply called Force AXS, is still 12-speed, for disc brakes only, still with the same shifting functionalities, and still offered in numerous versions, with double or single chainring, or in a Wide version with a wide gear range. But like the Red groupset, this new version now benefits from integrated chainrings (thus a gain in weight and rigidity), an optional Quarq power meter, and a new 50-37 chainring combination for the most athletic among us. That’s not all, because to really drive the point home and bring the Force AXS even closer to the Red in terms of Premium finish, the groupset benefits from new levers, thinner, more ergonomic, and similar to those already found on the Sram Rival groupset, but this time with a carbon lever.

The finish is enhanced by a new logo with rainbow reflections, perfectly in line with the Rainbow option offered by Sram, with a Red cassette and chain featuring an anodization originally only offered on the bikes of world champions. Incidentally, this option, which will cost €401, will save weight on the Force, which already boasts a base weight 101 g lighter than the previous version. And as for prices, Sram has the good taste not to increase them. Let’s look in detail at the specificities of the new parts of this Force groupset, whose review we will publish in the coming weeks. Brakes and cassette remain identical to the previous version.
