During a Vélofollies rich in news, novelties and action, Classified takes a new step in its ambassador journey by welcoming former road world champion Philippe Gilbert.
On the occasion of Vélofollies, the Belgian cycling show, Classified Cycling today announces its new ambassador and investor, former professional cyclist and compatriot Philippe Gilbert. Classified Cycling, the Belgian innovator in bicycle drivetrains, is proud to add a rider of Philippe’s stature to its team of ambassadors.
Born in Verviers in 1982, a city located in one of Belgium’s most famous cycling regions, Wallonia, Philippe started cycling at a young age, embarking on an impressive career that saw him crowned road world champion in 2012 and win the Amstel Gold Race four times. His palmarès also includes two Tours of Lombardy, Liège – Bastogne – Liège, Paris-Roubaix and of course that famous breakaway victory at the Tour of Flanders in 2017. Far from being just a classics rider, Philippe also won 7 stages of the Vuelta a España and an overall victory at the Tour of Beijing in 2014.
Philippe retired from professional cycling last season and has now joined Classified Cycling as an investor and ambassador, bringing a wealth of World Tour expertise and a passion for cycling to the company and its products.
