C.B.T. Italia Updates the Necer99

Aesthetic minimalism, high performance, and an additional size designed specifically for female cyclists are the hallmarks of the new Necer99 from C.B.T. Italia.

C.B.T. Italia announces the launch of the updated version of its Necer99, the road bike set to become the Cuneo-based company’s new flagship model in 2023. Designed exclusively for disc brakes and featuring fully integrated cables with no visible wires, the Necer99 is the result of a design process that emphasizes quiet performance. The frame is a T700 UD-HM carbon monocoque, reinforced with graphene and Kevlar in the areas subject to the most stress. It features an aerodynamic profile. Notable design features include the verticalized seatstays and the lowered bottom bracket design, with rear dropouts measuring just 395 mm in length.

The top tube, down tube, and seat tube—designed to reduce vibrations and torsional effects—feature a flat profile. The fork is also a new design, with a slightly curved profile. C.B.T. Italia has also redesigned the handlebars and stem: the kit, from NIX (a brand owned by the Cuneo-based company), ensures optimal routing of the control cables from the front to the bike’s components. The final weight of the frame is just over one kilogram.

Technical Choices

The specially designed curved fork legs ensure stability, comfort, and maneuverability, while also dampening vibrations. Performance during the push phase, acceleration, and braking is significantly improved. The bottom bracket height has also been revised and lowered by 5 to 8 mm depending on size, to increase stability, particularly on steep and winding descents. The layering of multiple carbon fiber plies and their strategic placement in areas subject to the greatest torsion and flex ensure the frame’s stiffness, even when subjected to stresses caused by ground vibrations, providing the rider with excellent control and maneuverability in all conditions.

The tube wall thicknesses have been increased at the junctions and along the drilled holes for cable routing. The frame has undergone laboratory stress testing. The result: the Necer99 delivers both performance and riding enjoyment.

Silent Performance

In addition to offering a sleek and elegant design in the purest “Made in Italy” tradition, the internal cable routing and frame design ensure virtually no vibrations or noise. The finish features a tricolor design, with a fixed silver base and white, red, black, or blue accents that reflect C.B.T. Italia’s cycling DNA. The only exception is a classic model in black with white graphics. The frame’s sleek, aerodynamic lines have been tested in a wind tunnel.

A bike for everyone

Another new feature is the addition of size 45 to the lineup, with geometry designed specifically for female cyclists. The available sizes will therefore increase from 5 to 6. Performance-focused research makes the Necer99 a bike that’s equally suited to recreational cyclists and competitive athletes. The UCI-certified frame is used by several Italian men’s and women’s teams, yet it doesn’t compromise on the comfort and handling designed for enthusiasts without specific competitive ambitions.

Also available as a frame kit

In addition to the complete bike, the Necer99 is available as a frame kit with fork, headset, and spacers (handlebar kit optional). The complete bike is offered in 5 different configurations: with Shimano Dura-Ace, Ultegra, and 105 12-speed groupsets, as well as Ultegra and 105 11-speed groupsets. Prices range from €2,715 for the standard model to €7,685 for the Dura-Ace version, which weighs 7.05 kg as shipped in size 54. The frame kit is priced at €1,399.
