Alex Morrice and Luca Vergallito Earn Pro Contracts Through Zwift

It’s the cycling event of the end of the year, the favorite reality TV show for cycling enthusiasts. The Zwift Academy Road delivered its verdict this weekend, crowning two Zwifters who each secured a professional contract after 8 weeks of challenges. In the fall, the CANYON//SRAM Racing (women) and Alpecin-Deceuninck Development (men) teams will each welcome a new recruit for the season, and more if affinities develop. British rider Alex Morrice, 22, will join the UCI Women’s World Tour with CANYON//SRAM Racing, while Italian rider Luca Vergallito, 25, will join the Alpecin-Deceuninck Development team.

In its 7 years of existence, the Zwift Academy talent identification program has proven its worth by unearthing talented cyclists from the Zwift community. Morrice and Vergallito are now following in the footsteps of Jay Vine and Ella Harris, two cyclists discovered by the Zwift Academy Road and now recognized.

This year’s two winners managed to stand out among the 160,000 participants in the 2022 edition, first on Zwift, then in Denia (Spain) for the finals.

A series of 6 episodes produced during this final week is now available on GCN’s YouTube channel, giving internet users the chance to discover behind-the-scenes and daily life of the 10 aspiring pros during the final week, until the big announcement of the winners of this race for a pro contract.

Alex Morrice and Luca Vergallito, two names to remember and follow on the roads in 2023… And this is just the beginning!
