arena is pleased to announce the launch of Powerskin ST NEXT, a new generation competition swimsuit that is lighter, more environmentally friendly, and made in part with recycled textiles. Available in a limited edition, this swimsuit, which symbolizes arena‘s commitment to the environment, features an exclusive design inspired by and for the sea.

Following the success of its predecessor, the Powerskin ST 2.0, the new ST NEXT aims to be lighter, more performant, and more ethical than its elder. More than 60% of the yarns used in the manufacturing of the ST NEXT come from pre- and post-consumer waste, which would have otherwise ended up in landfills. The resulting material has a low absorption rate and guarantees the swimsuit a 20% lighter weight in water. The construction, materials, and logo of the ST NEXT are FINA approved, meaning the model can be used in official federation competitions at all levels. The swimsuit is also available in a junior version for children under 12.
To accompany the launch of this new swimsuit, the brand has partnered with Red Bull cliff diver, Eleanor (Ellie) Smart. “I’ve been diving with the Powerskin ST for years, and when I tried the ST NEXT, I really loved the compression and fit of it,” she explains. “It’s a good thing that arena is starting to make Powerskin ST competition swimsuits from recycled textile that offer the same comfort as a normal swimsuit. My discussions with the Arena teams, during my trip to Europe, reinforced the brand’s desire to include me in the ST NEXT project, while confirming that we shared common values.”

The 26-year-old athlete from the American Midwest began her career in Olympic-style diving, primarily from the 10m platform, before moving into cliff diving and securing a permanent spot in the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series in 2019. Following numerous incidents related to water cleanliness – she was notably hospitalized for kidney infections – Elie reacted by co-founding The Clean Cliffs Project with Owen Weymouth, her partner and fellow diver, to raise awareness against plastic pollution and encourage others to act. From beach clean-ups during World Series events to educational meetings with local communities, she never hesitates when it comes to committing to a cleaner planet.
Greg Steyger, arena‘s Product Director, states: “We are proud to launch this new ST NEXT racing swimsuit. It demonstrates that performance, comfort, and eco-design are not incompatible. As we adopt ambitious environmental goals in terms of design and development, it’s a privilege to have a personality like Ellie on our team. She shares our values, and we are proud to have her as an ambassador for this project. Through her actions, she has proven her commitment and will not hesitate to fully engage. Her example inspires others. We look forward to working with Ellie on this project and hope that this collaboration will continue and lead to other projects to find beneficial solutions for our planet.“
