IRONMAN Hawaii 2022: Frenchman Sam Laidlow 2nd behind Gustav Iden, Kristian Blummenfelt 3rd, Léon Chevalier 7th, Clément Mignon 9th

In Kona, on the legendary Hawaii Ironman, the venue for the circuit’s world championship, the French put on a show. Sam Laidlow, leading the run after setting the fastest bike split in the history of the race, covering 180 km in 4h04’36, took a magnificent 2nd place (7h42’24), the best performance ever for a Frenchman, behind Norway’s Gustav Iden, who set two records: the event record in 7h40’24 and the marathon record in 2h36’15. His compatriot Kristian Blummenfelt (7h43’23) took the third step of the podium.

The French show didn’t stop there, as two other French athletes finished in the top 10: Léon Chevalier was 7th in 7h55’52 and Clément Mignon 9th in 7h56’58. Just a little further back, a 4th Frenchman was in the top 15 with Denis Chevrot, 14th in 8h03’24.
