Like Quebec (Friday, September 9), Montreal welcomes back its Grand Prix cycling race and the professional peloton after a two-year absence due to Covid. This 11th edition takes place on Sunday, September 11. The Mount Royal circuit, a 12.3 km loop to be completed 18 times, offers a total of 221 km and nearly 5,000 m of elevation gain! The repetition of climbs, four per lap, makes this event difficult and demanding. The 2019 winner, Belgian Greg van Avermaet (AG2R Citroën Team), is present at the starting line, as is Australian Michael Matthews (Team BikeExchange-Jayco, winner in 2018). Also in attendance are: Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates), Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) and Peter Sagan (Total Énergies). With these riders, the spectacle is guaranteed.
