TRAINING

Training has been the subject of special attention this season. The improvements to the home screen user interface will make it easier to discover Zwift’s vast library of workouts and training plans and to learn more about them.

One of Zwift’s most successful recent additions, PacePartners, is about to exit the FutureWorks test program. PacePartners are highlighted on the home screen and allow Zwift users to join a group for a collective workout at different paces.

Route Based Workouts are an alternative to FTP training offering a more accessible path to structured training on the platform. As its name suggests, the Route Based Workout program uses Zwift’s terrain and marked segments to create a training plan.

RACING

Racing on Zwift has always been a popular way to train. The 2022 calendar, as well as other details, can be found on a new dedicated racing website.
  • The Zwift Racing League is Zwift’s largest competitive league, with over 1,800 teams and 15,000 racers participating last season. ZRL offers races for all levels.
  • New this season is ZRacing, a series of themed races for each month of the year. ZRacing allows for regular participation in competitions. A new stage will take place each week to fit everyone’s schedule.
  • Zwift will once again be the host platform for the 2023 UCI Cycling Esports World Championships. As in 2022, the qualifying events, followed by the continental championships, will give Zwifters the opportunity to qualify for the 2023 UCI Cycling Esports World Championships.
  •  Zwift has also rolled out automatic categorization to make races fairer. It allows Zwifters to compete against riders of similar abilities, based on their most recent race data recorded on the platform.

ROUTES

Finally, the innovation all Zwifters are waiting for: new routes! In November, Makuri Islands will welcome Urukazi (pronounced woo-roo-kah-zi) a new map containing road, gravel, and dirt surfaces that wind through a lush forest. Urukazi’s terrain is Zwift’s interpretation of the landscape of these islands. On the menu, in addition to cobblestones and gravel, a new type of surface that exists nowhere else on Zwift.
