Cadex Introduces New 50 Aero Wheels and Aero Tubeless Tires

CADEX unveils two new products designed for aerodynamic performance on the road: the CADEX 50 Ultra wheels and CADEX Aero tubeless tires. They will soon be available at all CADEX retailers.

The CADEX 50 Ultra wheel is designed for maximum aerodynamic efficiency, while ensuring control and stability in all conditions. Thanks to its 50mm aero rim depth, ultra-light carbon construction, carbon spokes, and new R3-C40 rear hub, the CADEX 50 Ultra wheel has proven to be the fastest in its category after a battery of tests. It has also proven itself at the highest level, securing stage victories in Grand Tours, ridden by Simon Yates and Michael Matthews of Team BikeExchange-Jayco.

“What makes a wheel fast on the road is its ability to adapt to the different situations it may encounter,” explains Jeff Schneider, Product Manager at CADEX Global. “In any race or road ride, cyclists can face climbs, descents, fast flat sections, and tight corners, whether in the pack or at the front.” The CADEX 50 Ultra wheel is designed to take all these factors into account, especially drag at high speeds.

Weighing only 1349 g, it is among the lightest wheels in its category. Thanks to technological advancements such as profiled aerodynamic spokes, the new R3-C40 rear hub with 40 points of engagement, and ceramic bearings, CADEX has managed to improve power transmission. The rim, with an internal width of 22.4 mm, can accommodate higher volume tires, with excellent retention. This makes it possible to lower tire pressure to improve handling and road feel.

The new CADEX Aero tubeless tire complements CADEX’s range of high-end tires designed for road, off-road, and Gravel, offering cyclists a significant reduction in rolling resistance and aerodynamic benefits. Computational fluid dynamics and wind tunnel analyses have created a taller, oval-shaped tire profile. This creates a more direct airflow between the tire and the rim, whether on a CADEX wheel or a hookless rim from another brand. The result? A tire offering a tested and approved aerodynamic advantage in the lab.

“When designing the new CADEX Aero tire, we asked ourselves: how do we make a road tire faster? Improving premium compounds can minimize rolling resistance, and tread patterns can improve cornering grip. But we wanted to go further by improving the overall aerodynamic performance of the tire, not just by working on the tire shape but also on how it mounts to the wheel to create the smoothest possible airflow, with CADEX wheels but also with wheels from other manufacturers,” explains Jeff Schneider.

The CADEX Aero tire is available in 700x25C and features the new RR-A compound, an ultra-high-performance silica-based compound. It reduces rolling resistance by 15% compared to previous CADEX tires and ensures excellent cornering grip, especially in wet conditions.

CADEX Ceramic Bearings
- Ceramic bearings improve rolling smoothness with reduced rolling resistance, resulting in 1.5x smoother movement than with steel bearings. Ultimately, movement is optimized, and power loss is minimal.
