Quality mechanics contribute greatly to the success of a bike shop. Shimano France thus wants to highlight their skills to the general public. To do this, the brand has decided to determine who is the best among its network of partner retailers, the Shimano Service Centers.

Through this first championship, Shimano wishes to highlight the skills of the Shimano Service Center network as well as its technicians. But also to reward mechanics who have taken the time to properly train in Shimano technologies and products. The brand also wants to further promote the Shimano Service Center network to the general public.

Mechanics freely registered for the championship. They had to first validate 2 criteria imposed by Shimano France: have completed 100% of the courses on the Shimano TEC e-learning platform and have a score of more than 85% in the audit carried out in the store.

The Principle

The French Shimano Service Center mechanics championship will take place over one day of competition. The 24 participants (including 3 women) will compete in 8 different events, the subjects of which will be kept secret until D-day.

The entirely impartial jury will be composed of:
– 2 representatives from Shimano France’s after-sales service, Jean-Pierre Devroute and Christopher Romero
– The head of the Shimano Service Center Europe concept, represented by Mickael Timmermans
– A member of the European after-sales service, Lars Thirion
– A manager of one of the oldest stores in the Shimano Service Center network, represented by Joel Feutrier (manager of 3 stores in southwestern France)

At the end of these events, and in the event of a tie, a surprise event will be organized to determine who will be the grand champion of the Shimano Service Center mechanics 2022.

This competition will be, as the brand wishes, a moment of exchange and sharing, in a very friendly and festive atmosphere.

Philippe Guillaume, Shimano France marketing manager, states:  The range of skills in bike workshops has never been so rich: mechanical, electronic, hydraulic… A bike technician must master several key subjects to be recognized. This competition is a way to highlight the professionalism of the technicians in the Shimano Service Center network. We can’t wait to see who will win this first edition which, although friendly, will be no less challenging!
