This new series of GPS bike computers benefits from access to various multi-GNSS satellite systems to pinpoint location accurately even in the steepest valleys. It also includes the ABC sensor series, comprising an altimeter, barometer, and electronic compass.

Finally, the new powered mount included in the Edge Explore 2 Power bundle allows continuous recharging of the device using the eBike’s battery.

“Whether you’re a casual cyclist or an eBiker, the Edge Explore 2 series will go everywhere with you,” says Dan Bartel, Garmin Vice President of Sales. “Easy to set up and use, these GPS bike computers are perfect adventure partners with their easy-to-read routable maps and eBike features.”

eBike compatibility

By using an Edge Explore 2 with their eBike, cyclists are constantly informed of their eBike’s battery charge level and assistance level. The new Edge powered mount – included in the Edge Explore 2 Power bundle – offers the possibility of continuously recharging the bike computer using the compatible eBike battery (requires a specific cable depending on the motor model).

Maps, routes, and more

No matter the type of adventure, the Edge Explore 2 series helps you stay on track with:

– Preloaded activity profiles, including road, off-road, and indoor cycling.

– Easy-to-read maps, which use Trendline™ Popularity Routing, based on billions of miles ridden by other Garmin users. Cyclists can also view popular roads and trails, high-traffic areas, and points of interest directly from their Edge.

– Course creation via the Garmin Connect, Strava, or Komoot apps with quick synchronization to the Edge.

– Turn-by-turn navigation alerts, signaling the most dangerous turns directly from the screen.

– The ability to pause navigation functions to deviate from the initial course. Navigation can be reactivated at any time to return to the programmed route, go back to the starting point, or calculate a new route to the destination.

– ClimbPro, which automatically displays the elevation gain and distance to the next summit and allows cyclists to access their performance data directly from the device or via the Garmin Connect app.

Safety and tracking

With its integrated safety and tracking features, the Edge Explore 2 series gives cyclists great peace of mind during their outings. Thanks to the GroupTrack feature, via a compatible smartphone, cyclists can communicate with each other by message and know the position of each group member directly from their Edge screen. In addition, if an incident is detected, Edge Explore 2 devices automatically send a message to pre-selected emergency contacts indicating the cyclist’s location.

These new GPS bike computers are compatible with Varia™ devices designed to increase visibility and safety on the road, such as the new Varia RCT715 with integrated taillight and camera that automatically records videos in case of an incident (sold separately). Furthermore, if a cyclist stops for a break or to admire the view, the PIN-protected bike alarm will notify them on their smartphone if their bike has been moved.

A connected bike computer

When the device is connected to a smartphone, the cyclist receives SMS messages and notifications directly on their Edge screen. After a ride, the device automatically synchronizes activities to the Garmin Connect app for easy access to all statistics. Cyclists also have the option to customize their device by downloading features, apps, and widgets from the Connect IQ™ store.
