The Haute Route series is about to launch its season

The Haute Route series will soon kick off its 2022 calendar with its first two races. The Haute Route Alpe d’Huez, from June 24 to 26, offers three stages, including a 15-kilometer time trial on the famous 21 hairpins. The Haute Route Pyrénées, from July 5 to 9, covers the main passes of the massif over five stages, including the Tourmalet and Spandelles, two weeks before the Tour de France peloton.

It is thanks to its iconic destinations and the quality of the proposed routes that the Haute Route has built its reputation since its launch in 2011. The new season brings together these ingredients more than ever.

The first two races take riders to iconic locations in world cycling. The incomparable atmosphere of Haute Route races, as well as the level of service and support worthy of professional races, ensure that these events will be unlike any other.

The Haute Route Alpe d’Huez: the legendary climb revisited

This true Mecca of cycling is used to welcoming cyclists from all over the world, but it is in the Haute Route style that they will be able to (re)discover Alpe d’Huez and its famous 21 hairpins. The race had not been part of the Haute Route calendar since 2019. On a course steeped in cycling history, the legendary climbs and passes of the surroundings will be on the program, with two classic stages, plus a time trial on the mythical climb from Bourg-d’Oisans to Alpe d’Huez. The 300 riders, aged 26 to 69, will be encouraged and supported by the Haute Route team to help them surpass themselves like never before: safety cars and motorcycles, mechanical assistance before, during, and after the race, hot meals, and massages after each stage.

The Haute Route Pyrénées, two weeks before the Tour de France

A cycling pilgrimage par excellence, the Haute Route Pyrénées offers raw beauty, demanding climbs, and breathtaking routes.

Among the challenges on the program for the 5 stages are the incredible Col de Spandelles, which will make its Tour de France debut just two weeks later, the Hourquette d’Ancizan, the Col d’Aubisque, and the mythical Col du Tourmalet. Finally, the Col du Portet, having found new glory during its Tour de France debut in 2018, will be the perfect finish line for this epic edition of the Haute Route Pyrénées.

350 riders, aged 19 to 73, are expected for the race.
