Connectivity and safety
The Edge 1040 Solar offers integrated safety and tracking features: assistance, incident detection, and LiveTrack to inform loved ones of your real-time position and follow the pre-established route from start to finish. The GroupTrack feature allows cyclists to communicate with each other via message and know the position of group members directly from their Edge screen. This new GPS bike computer is compatible with Varia devices designed to increase cyclists’ visibility and safety on the road, such as the new Varia RCT715 with integrated camera that continuously records and automatically saves videos in case of an incident. It also works with inReach devices so users can access and reply to messages, share route data, and trigger SOS alerts via satellite.
This new bike computer is also compatible with Tacx indoor trainers to give cyclists the freedom to train whenever they want. Cyclists can monitor the battery status of their sensors with a specific display directly from the Edge 1040 Solar.
The Edge 1040 Solar is ready to use in just a few moments; indeed, customers who have already used an Edge GPS can download custom profiles, based on the settings of their old GPS. For new users, the device will automatically adjust according to their practice and the sensors used, based on the most popular settings among other users. Once configured, cyclists can define all activity profile settings via the Garmin Connect app and synchronize them directly from the Edge 1040 Solar.

The Edge 1040 is available at a retail price of €599.99 and €745.99 for the Solar version. A Pack version with heart rate monitor strap and cadence/speed sensor is also available at a price of €699.99.
