The first edition of the Maurienne Gravel Expérience took place on Saturday, June 4. This discipline, which comes straight from the USA, has been gaining popularity in France for several years. Starting from Saint Michel de Maurienne, participants were able to gain altitude and discover the high mountain landscapes offered by the communes of Orelle, Valmeinier, and Valloire. With two routes, “gravel riders” could embark on a 35 km course with 1500 m of elevation gain, ideal for trying out the sport and enjoying the magnificent trails that Valmeinier offers—a perfect playground!

The most experienced riders took on a 65 km course with 2650 m of elevation gain, including a climb to the top of Crey du Quart, an emblematic mountain that connects the communes of Valloire and Valmeinier.
