Oakley Launches New Re:SubZero Glasses

The American brand Oakley is launching a new innovation with Re:SubZero, a lightweight frame designed to be worn during a jog or training session, or whenever you sweat. Thanks to the brand’s physiomorphic geometry, Re:SubZero provides athletes with everything they need to focus on the present moment and envision a lighter future in a single frame. Characterized by its innovative look and a weight of only 24g, this frame feels like wearing nothing, but offers everything you need to channel your energy to move and progress.

Sport is a way to enjoy a healthier and lighter life. This belief inspired the creation of Re:SubZero – a frame to wear during jogging and training sessions or simply to stay active beyond traditional playgrounds. Re:SubZero’s mission is to reap the benefits of your movements, no matter where your journey begins or ends. The frame was designed for everyone who loves to move and improve their life through sport. Weighing only 24g, the frame is the ideal lightweight companion for activities before, during, and after sweating.

“In a time like the one we are living in, we have a duty to inspire people to perceive sport as a lever for a better life, to foster a better community and, ultimately, a better world. Sport relieves, unites, heals and transforms,” said Caio Amato, Global Marketing Director at Oakley. “RE: SUBZERO is the result of our obsession to create an unforgettable experience for consumers to relieve the weight everyone carries, regardless of their level. 40 years of innovation, in just 24g! An ultra-light and versatile experience that invites you to seek the best version of yourself.”

The new glasses feature technology that only a brand like Oakley can offer. The frame features physiomorphic geometry, an industrial revolution that allows lenses to be designed with extended wrap and rigidity in key areas that mimic the structural properties of a frame. Drawing inspiration from human experience as well as the laws of nature, physiomorphic geometry allows for the design and development of eyewear without limits and lenses without any shape constraints. This unique feature results in a seamless design and a mask-like fit without the restrictions of a frame.

The unique lens attachment relies on the Oakley icon to connect the lens, attachment, stem, and icon in a fluid, one-of-a-kind design. The sunglasses have been equipped with Prizm technology, designed to enhance color and contrast, in its unique protective lens design, while two Unobtainium® nose pads of different thicknesses and depths allow for varying offsets, thereby creating a perfect fit and a non-slip grip.

The Re:SubZero model was revealed to the global Oakley community via an augmented reality journey that showcases the cutting-edge technological approach and highlights the innovative nature of this extremely lightweight pair of glasses. Connected to a mobile device, viewers received in-depth information and a summary of the development of each element of the frame via augmented reality graphics. The sunglasses are packaged in a floating chamber to emphasize their lightweight design.

Re:SubZero arrives just weeks after the brand’s relaunch of Sub Zero, a frame that is part of its MUZM platform and reinterprets iconic and archival products for today’s world.

Oakley Re:SubZero glasses are available on the Oakley website and in select Oakley stores since May 12.
