Whether in chrono mode to give it their all and aim for a top spot in the rankings, or in touring mode to enjoy and discover the Massif Sud Bourgogne without rushing, all participants found a route that met their expectations. Competitors could choose the Tournugeois Route (140km | 2,400m D+) or its smaller sibling, the Maconnais Route (85km | 1,300m D+). Participants on the long route quickly gained altitude and enjoyed clear views of the Saône Valley and Tournus, as well as the Bresse Plain from the Col de Beaufer. Halfway through, they met up with participants from the Maconnais Route to finish together through the vineyards and renowned appellations such as Viré-Clessé.

For those wishing to tackle a more accessible route, the Crémant Route (60km | 925m D+) was the perfect choice. In touring mode only, the Crémant Route took participants around Viré to discover two rolling climbs, before tackling the last difficulty of the day, the climb to Burgy and its Romanesque church.

Off to a flying start

With these hilly routes and mild weather, conditions were perfect for performing today. On both the Tournugeois and Maconnais Routes, participants covered the first kilometers of asphalt in a tight peloton. After a difficult breakaway, Belgian Michiel MINNAERT took the victory on the Tournugeois Route in 3h46, paving the way for Sandrine PONSARD, who finished in 4h34.

On the Maconnais Route, Quentin BINDI crossed the finish line first after 2h29 of racing. A great story of the day, there wasn’t one female winner but two! After a furious sprint in the last meters of the race, Frenchwoman Bérengère GREVY and Colombian Elisabeth PFLAUM JARA BERMEO crossed the finish line in the same second after 2h45 of effort.

The first round of the Cyclo’Tour Rotor, the Cyclo Sud Bourgogne opens the season before the second round at the Lozérienne Cyclo next weekend.

A Gravel route to enjoy differently

Through paths and forests, about forty participants were able to discover the charms of the Massif Sud Bourgogne thanks to the Gravel Route (65km | 1,450m D+). Roughly following the Maconnais Route but taking alternative paths, enthusiasts of this new cycling practice enjoyed the rolling but hilly trails of the region. On this unmarked route, participants had to navigate using the GPS track provided by the organization.

Finishing the route in 2h31, Remi AUBERT took the victory. The only woman on this Gravel route, Elodie LOYER finished magnificently in 6h03.

The Cyclo Sud Bourgogne was the second round of the Gravel’Tour Cannondale and invites its participants to meet again in Lozère for the Lozérienne Gravel.
