Wednesday, April 20, the succession of Julian Alaphilippe (Quickstep – Alpha Vinyl) at the top of the 2022 Flèche Wallonne standings is open. For this 86th edition of the Ardennes classic, the French world champion will have serious competitors including Slovenian Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma, 2nd in 2021), Spanish veteran Alejandro Valverde (Movistar, 3rd in 2021), record holder of the event with five victories and always present in the final, and the Slovenian phenomenon Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates), capable of winning on all terrains. Starting from Blegny, the 16th city to host the start of the race, the riders will face a 202 km course and three ascents of the mythical Mur de Huy with its 22% gradients.
