After nearly 15 years of existence and a blank year in 2020, La Bourguignonne made its big comeback in 2021 under a new identity, the Cyclo Sud Bourgogne. A successful return in Dantean weather! While the name and routes have changed, the conviviality and spirit of the event remain the same: discover Southern Burgundy and appreciate its rich and varied terroir.

The organization invites all cycling enthusiasts, whether touring cyclists or competitors, to kick off the cycling season on April 23 in Viré (71).

Timed or touring, the choice is yours!
As last year, the Cyclo Sud Bourgogne is part of the Cycling Challenge and becomes a carrying stage of the Cyclo’Tour Rotor. With 8 events and 10 stages on the Cyclo’Tour Rotor program, the challenge aims to highlight some of France’s most beautiful sportives and promote local produce and conviviality.
With 3 routes to choose from, participants in the Cyclo Sud Bourgogne will ride hilly roads with a succession of climbs and passes. The Crémant route (60 km / 925 m D+), open only in touring mode, allows everyone to discover the Viré region on an accessible and undemanding route. The Maconnais route (85 km / 1300 m D+) will take participants to discover Southern Burgundy between Saone and Grosne, passing through the Pistole and Quatre Vent passes. The most experienced cyclists can tackle the Tournugeois route (140 km / 2400m D+). With sections common to the intermediate route, cyclists riding on the latter will break away at the beginning of the route to tackle more demanding roads and passes. With 2400 m of elevation gain to conquer, this route is comparable to a mountain stage; endurance and self-knowledge will be essential for this type of effort.
In timed mode to soak up the competitive spirit, or in touring mode to enjoy the route and appreciate the scenery, all cyclists are welcome at the Cyclo Sud Bourgogne!
The Gravel route, back on the program
Last year was also an opportunity to reinvent itself and open up to a new audience by adding a Gravel route to the event and integrating the Gravel’Tour Cannondale. With the possibilities offered by the Southern Burgundy territory, there is no doubt that Gravel’Tour Cannondale participants will appreciate the route reserved for them. With 65 km to complete and 1450 m of elevation gain to conquer, they will ride on a route composed of 70% trails and 30% roads.
To navigate, participants will only be able to rely on themselves and the GPX track provided by the organization, one more reason to take the time to appreciate the route and the surrounding landscapes.

Alain Pradier, conductor of the Cyclo Sud Bourgogne
While he has partnered with Agence LVO to reinvent the Cyclo Sud Bourgogne and assist with time-consuming administrative tasks, Alain Pradier continues to invest himself in the event. As a true conductor, he brings together, with his association Véloce – Vélo Conseil Evénement – all active forces to successfully carry out the event. Known and appreciated by everyone in the region, the former President of the Regional Cycling Committee will be delighted to welcome you on April 23 in Viré!
