Thomas Voeckler, a true icon of French cycling, joins the Sigma brand’s team of ambassadors. With one of the most impressive palmarès in French cycling, Thomas Voeckler has achieved a series of feats, particularly in the Tour de France: wearing the yellow jersey for 20 days, 4 stage victories, and winning the King of the Mountains classification, all of which contributed to his fame and his special connection with the public (“Voecklermania”). Considered the favorite French cyclist during his career, he remains highly appreciated and involved in the world of cycling. One of the reasons for such a status is that he is primarily seen as a humble, accessible, natural, and popular personality. Recognized as an influential figure in the world of high-level cycling in France, the former professional cyclist is now a consultant for the Tour de France and other events on France Télévisions. His performance as a reporter during his debut at the 2018 Tour was unanimously praised and reinforced his positive image. Finally, in 2019, Thomas Voeckler became the manager of the French Cycling Team, which he led at the Olympic Games, World Championships, and European Championships.

A long-standing connection

Thomas Voeckler has always been linked to Sigma. The Frenchman rode with the German brand’s products for almost his entire professional career, as Sigma was a sponsor of his team Brioches La Boulangère, which later became BBox Bouygues Telecom, then Europcar, and finally Direct Energie. Thomas has therefore always been familiar with Sigma bike computers, and this partnership is first and foremost a reunion between a rider and a brand that appreciate each other and share the same values. “As a former professional cyclist, I can now choose the brands I want to work with, and Sigma perfectly matches what I look for in a partner. This partnership happened naturally because throughout my career, I almost always rode with their products, which I particularly appreciate for their ease of use and efficiency. I had even bought a Sigma bike computer a few months before they contacted me for this partnership. I think we will be able to make good progress together,” says Thomas. “We are delighted to have Thomas Voeckler join us,” explains Thomas Seifert, CEO of Sigma. “His friendly character and passion for cycling make him the perfect ambassador for the Sigma brand and will allow us to reach an even wider audience.”

Welcome to the Sigma family

Thomas joins a team of ambassadors that includes Marcel Kittel, a former German professional cyclist who won 14 stages of the Tour de France; Sergio Mantecón, a Spanish mountain biker and multiple XCO and XCM Spanish champion; Anne Terpstra, one of the best mountain bikers in the world who continues to compete at the highest level from the Netherlands with the GHOST Factory Racing Team; Karl Platt, an absolute global reference in mountain biking, 5-time winner of the Cape Epic; and Salim Kipkemboi, the first Kenyan to win an international cycling race, who continues to compete with the German Bike Aid team.
